Cell C Speed Test Results

Why does it seem that all people in Jhb are getting around 10megs download rates where as people in the cape are getting 2 - 4 megs.

I live in Century City and my Cell c 21mbs stick gets around 1 - 2mbs download rate, where is my 9 or 10's ???

Common Cell C :D please put some Whooooooosh back into the Cape.

I had some performance issues over the last few weeks here in Fourways, and after having a quiet word with the CellC support guys (well done Dennis, Thuto and Armando!) via PM and on the phone (yes, they even kept me updated via regular calls) we have now gone from:

Ping 80ms (remains fairly steady and unchanged)
Download: From 1Mbps to steady 6Mbps (and regularly goes to 12.5Mbps for long periods, but 6 is great!)
Upload: 0.01Mbps up to 1.5Mbps (or 2.5 when hitting the high speed periods)

There wasn't a noticable change in the notorious "month end" period either.

For me, the thing that really summed up CellC's effort was Lars' interest and involvement in the fix. The guys are still busy (at least they were still at it yesterday) working on transmission problems on our tower, while I monitor the situation and send feedback.

I see many people on the forum here posting about their particular problems, and all I want to say is "hang in there". These guys really do try harder to make a better broadband experience.

(Disclaimer: this is not a paid-for commercial, and I'm not affiliated with CellC in any way. I'm just glad to be sorted out, and I will give credit where it's due. :) )

I am sorry but my experience is the total opposite. Bar the Cell_C representative here i have no feedback of any sort and my super slow internet has been a problem for me for 8 Months.
I have e-mailed them i have phoned them i have posted on there Facebook page (Which they just delete) and been PMing the Cell C representative here.
My feeling is they are waiting for the 12 months to finish and then they wont have to worry about me being there problem anymore, as i am definitely not buying another useless Cell C Paper Weight.
Just think i PAID for a service and for 8 months i have not received that service.

I agree with the above. I had 3-4 months of serious issues (slow downloads, very slow uploads, congestion, signal interference, disconnections, etc). I was about to give up on Cell C when Lars intervened and now I get great speeds almost all the time. I have just cancelled my Telkom ADSL.

These are the kind of speeds I have often been getting recently. I think my tower is now also broadcasting 2100 Mhz which must be helping.
