Cell C trying to fool broadband consumers?

hahaha how much are you guys getting for an article like this.... as for the rollout only time will tell.....5Bil is a LOT of money...

This may well be, but the difference in what Vodacom is currently doing and where Cell C finds itself is significant. Vodacom is already trialing HSPA+, and is actively extending its HSPA+ footprint. Cell C on the other hand did not even select all their vendors yet…they are a very long way off from starting to test the service in their own live network.

I really am perplexed as to how the Cell C CEO can say ‘it is a fact that they will be first with HSPA+’.
 
This exact issue is the reason for me wanting to port to Vodacom. My contract expires soon, and as I'm an avid fan of Smartphones, I am forced to move to a network that will be able to supply me with the data connectivity needed to "run" such a device nowadays. I've always had great service from CellC, but data has become a necessity and will be the reason I move to another provider.
 
Hmm, I will switch to cell c if they get it right...
 
If Cell-C is "first" with this, i bet it'll be only available in the CEOs backyard, nowhere else. They'll even then go as far as saying they were "first" in launching it in someone's backyard.

Watch this space! If you dont need to renew right now I would hold on until the new offerings are available. it will B worth it.

What will happen to Cell C's existing 2G network that is already using that 900MHz frequency?

Can the 2G and HSPA+ networks coexist on the same 900MHz frequency or will Cell C just tell all of its 2G customers to get lost?

Cell C's CEO has been smoking someone's socks.
 
My experiences with CellC and connectivity left a really bad taste in the mouth.. will need to see this to believe it.

In a previous article on mybb Cell C stated that the voice calls will be moved up to a higher band, like 1900

Missed that but I will try searching.

It still sounds like Cell C would be giving the middle finger to a lot its 2G customers not all of whom have a tri-band phone that can support 1.9GHz, unless there really are more tri-band phones in use by Cell C subscribers :confused:.

You dont need a triband. All you need is a dual band. Tri band is for clients that wants to roam in countries like the USA etc.

Contract only expires in 3 months. If I stay I run the risk of not having a fast data connection for another 2 years. This is a risk I'm not willing to take. If they can sort out their data service within the next 3 months i'll be more than happy to stay with them.
 
The Chances of CellC Getting a fully operational 21Mbs 4G Network running is the same as Bokomo becoming a Nation-wide Power Company
