Hi everyone

I hope I am not the only one with this issue.

I am with me&youmobile, which is an MVNO, using Cell C infrastructure. On Saturday, I got an SMS saying "Cell C Wifi Calling has been activated on your line"

Problem is, when I'm on Wifi, I can't make or receive calls. The Wifi calling icon shows at the top of the screen, but the network bars are zero. Internet is fine obviously. If I deactivate Wifi, then I can make calls over the normal network.

Me&you reckons they have no idea what this setting/feature is. Cell C say they can't help me because the line is with a 3rd party.

My S6 Edge doesn't have an option anywhere to deactivate wifi calling (even though Google says there should be one in various places in settings)

I hope that's clear enough, because, reading it, it sounds very confusing to me!

Thanks

YES! I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this freaking problem. I have spent HOURS on the phone with Cell C and not one person can tell me what the hell is going on. I've spoken to 5 different people and every single one has given me a different story. Their only solution is to "switch off your wifi". Wtf.

Also an S6, also started a few days ago and I also don't have the settings to disable it. It's driving me nuts and I've resigned myself to a factory reset.

Come on Cell C - what is going on??

Well.... my wifi calling seems to be working, but I also can't find the setting to switch it off and on... I'm glad I'm not the only person experiencing the issue.

What exactly is WiFi calling? VOIP/SIP for the technologically challenged?

I am in a similar situation and very relieved I'm not the only one experiencing the issue! Its extremely frustrating! Guess I shouldve checked myBB first.

My situation:
On me and you network.
Samsung s6.
No way to turn off WiFi calling and no one has a clue/how to resolve it (cell c/Samsung/me and you)

I can however make and receive calls but no way to disable WiFi calling. It just uses WiFi calling by default when I'm connected to a network.

Hours spent trying to figure it out and no one has a clue. Was going to take the phone to Samsung repair centre for software reset. Decided against it when I saw this thread.

cell c technical informed me that it is a software issue with the s6 and they have informed Samsung. Now samsung needs to roll out update according to cell c to fix the issue.

Samsung said my phone software is the problem and that it should have wifi calling on/off and other options.

But given there are others with the issue it seems cell c explanation is more plausible.

Unfortunately it just leaves people having to switch off WiFi to make calls which is a crazy situation. Also it may affect your ability to receive calls according to cell c technician i spoke to.

Mine happened after software update so maybe a temporary fix is to ask Samsung repair center to reload old software that didn't support WiFi calling. Remember to back up your phone though.

Please let me know if you guys hear anything further.

Email was sent to [email protected] but had no response yet. I haven't been able to make or receive phonecalls with my Wi-Fi switched on since Monday and intermittently since 17 December when Cell C activated it. It was many phonecalls and emails and Facebook posts before I found the problem myself. WTH did Cell C activate Wi-Fi calling if it has not been properly tested!?? And then not give the customer the option to disable it! I am still waiting for an email from Tebogo from SM, requested it twice? I had to call back again today, first spoke with Sibeso who told me to switch "Wi-Fi On Only When Plugged In" and then again when that didn't obviously work, thank you to Rose for eventually sorting it out. All in all this took 6 phonecalls, 6 emails and 5 Facebook posts over a period of 4 days to resolve where it could have been resolved in minutes by a single capable agent.

Hi CandyMan_ZA

What did they eventually do to get it sorted?

Do you now have an option to switch it on and off?

Still no option available on the S6 to enable or disable it but Cell C disabled it on their side. Had to reboot phone afterwards.

@CandyMan_ZA.

They said to me that cant be done. Obviously it can. I'll ask them again.

Thanks for the help and info.

Try *147# option 9 then option 7. I didn't try this myself. Let me know if it deactivates. I see mine now says "Wi-Fi Calling Activation".

*147# doesnt work - invalid code. Strange. Cell c did mention to me that if you deactivate it will automatically reactivate. So is your WiFi calling reactivated?

Interestingly mybb tested WiFi calling with a ZTE and it had options for WiFi calling. Seems like its just s6 phones then. Very frustrating.

That is a valid code, just followed the prompts but it tells me WiFi calling is not supported on my LG G3 S

Thanks for confirming it works. Tried a few more times. Eventually prompted to use *140# instead. No WiFi calling options there. Suspect it's because I'm on me and you and not cell c.

Wi-Fi Calling was activated again this morning *sigh*. I used the *147# option 9 then option 7 and deactivated it. I received an sms confirming it has been deactivated. I can now make and receive calls with my Wi-Fi on. Now to wait and see if it gets activated again *sigh*
