On Friday 29th, I was down in PMB and noticed my cell phone was barred for outgoing calls. I phoned the CREDIT controller and said that I had made a payment plan and could you unbar the lines (x2) because I was traveling home that day and wanted the reassurance of cell phone comms, should I need it.

By today, Sunday 31st, the lines are still not unbarred. I phoned 808 and they got some announcement on the IVR about problems lifting barring. After speak to a "consultant" I was told they had some "big" network issue. NOT MY PROBLEM! Well now it is, I got no COMMS.

Well toughies; not my problem. Must I say that I got finial issues when it comes to paying the invoice?

Must I now not have cell comms over the New Year? Must I go buy a Pre-Paid to send New Year SMS's to family and friends? Must I pay the extra charges of SMS pre-paid, when I have a bundle on my contract?

I surely HOPE that MTN is going to compensate, ALL subscribers affected by this terrible service. Come on MTN, what's it gonna cost to keep us loyal and happy. (Sorry that not part of MTN's philosophy).

I am really shocking and pathetic!!!!!!

PS: All family & Freinds, please SMS me ...!

Why was it barred to start with, did you not pay on time?

well from what i can surmise regarding the whole issue, not on time perhaps.
pm me your details, il do what i can to speed up the unbarring, but please be advised that weve hit a high transaction queue and im doubtful as to whether the line will be open today, this is the same song ive been singing the whole day:(

Both my parents are on MTN and were unable to use MTN during Xmas. They were told a large group of MTN numbers were having problems.

That's really out of character for MTN  All my friends that are on MTN always comment on how reliable MTN's service is compared to the other major networks.

Same here, my account has been suspended right across new years!

In my case :

1. Signed contract 13 Nov
2. MTN decides not to bill me 31 Nov [i am on automatic debit order], but instead wait till 31 Dec...that means Activation Fee+2 Months worth of subscription charges.
3. I hit my limit 27 Dec .
4. I query this with MTN and they deduct the unbilled amount on 29 Dec [so my account was paid in full]...my account is suspended anyway. I even arranged to be billed again 15 Jan [as my billing cycle runs from 13th-13th..so 31st billing wouldn't work]....still they don't care and suspend my account :( .

5. Now the main problem is they can't lift the suspension!

What a mess. What is worse , i have data bundles and services loaded , which has nothing to do with my call limit [as i paid for it already] , can't access that either!

@Snakepit

When you checked these MSISDN'S what caused these problems?

MTNDD

Payment!

Why was it barred to start with, did you not pay on time?

Yes it was suspend due to credit limit and non-payment that MTN had not adjusted.

however that is not the issue, I have had a suspension before and they normaly take about 2-4 hours and the lines are active again, NOT 5 DAYS.

I issue is that I pay for a service and it is not working. MTN should be able to anticipate these issues and counter act it. Pitbull mentioned they have learnt from this issue, great, but that sill does not give me service. I do also realise that there is others in the same boat, but when the ship is sinking and we drowning, who you save, others or yourself.

Further more, my other account has five line and they also not working and that is not because of payment.

Happy Easter!!!!!

There is Gremlin in my Soup

Well, it look pretty exciting yesterday when 4 of my lines where unbarred and back in service, things looked bright.

But today someone switched off the lights and now my back in the dark. 2 of those lines is down again and 1 that was working all along on barred too.

My number no luck, it has been 8 days now out of service both ways. YES all accounts have been paid in full, for those that might question it.

Confucius says: many hands make light(s) work, or should it be systems

:) OK ALL TOGETHER: "LIFT YOUR HANDS UP":)

I'm now on day 4 of being disconnected from MTN's network... :(
WTF IS GOING ON^^^^ :(

Excellent question. My sister put in application to port from Vodacom to MTN and it has been over a week already. The lady at the MTN shop said Vodacom was experiencing a backlog with porting and that was the reason for the delay. But when I hear these comments from MTN customers, makes me that it might be a problem on the MTN side ...

I think next time we all do upgrades or whatever, we need to put SLA's into the contract in terms of response times etc... 2 days of being disconnected from the network, for something that is technically MTN's fault, should be grounds enough for you to cancel the contract outright IMO.
