I called CellC Direct on 2nd January and signed up for a new R399 iPhone 5 contract. Great telephone service during the sales cycle. I was told that they were out of stock on the iPhone 5, but they were expecting stock within two weeks. I agreed to wait. I was then contacted by a sales agent to tell me they had stock of the iPhone 5, but were out of stock on the nano-sim. On the 9th Jan, I received an email from the sales agent telling me that nano-sims were in stock as well, and that I could expect delivery in the next 3-5 working days.

On Monday 21st, as no phone had arrived, I tried to contact cellC - first I emailed the sales agent - no reply. I also called 084145, and after 7.5 minutes of waiting, I was asked if I wanted to rate the agent's performance! I emailed [email protected] twice on Monday - no response. I accessed the Customer Support website and logged a call via the web form - it promised I would be contacted, but it lied.

On Tuesday I again phoned 084 145 and finally reached an agent, who told me that had no stock of the iPhone 5, and they had no idea of when stock would arrive.

CellC are doing a great job in putting together great sales packages for good call rates, great data bundles, and really great phone deals, but they are falling down badly in their customer service!

Wait till you try that emergency service number. By the time you reach the emergency services a burglar already had sex with your wife smoked her cigarette and flipped her over for seconds

Just pray that the phone works. Mine didn't work out of the box, and they wouldn't swap it out. Had to wait ten days so CellC could make sure I didn't drop it.

They can't spell customer service.

...

I am having the exact same problem, I ordered mine on the 3rd of Jan and they said its gonna take 7 -10 working days. Ive also had all the bull*** about no stock and no nano sims. I phoned 084145 3 times in a row and all 3 consultants gave me a different story, this sucks sooooo much, im stuck with a blackberry for the forseeable future

I've been waiting since 26 Dec 2012....

And I'm still waiting

Now that "in the shadows" manner of handling this is exactly where CellC falls down with customer service.

Why not show how absurdly rubbish you are in public?

Or impress the rest of us with your efficiency, instead of doing it all behind the scenes.

I dropped Cell C about five years ago because of the shocking Customer Support....just ending the contract and getting it ported was a nightmare to the point where I just left the number.

Considering the recent pricing I've been contemplating a move back to CellC but I see very little has changed. All just smoke and mirrors.

Wait till you try activating iMessage and FaceTime and to display your phone number instead of email address.
Wasted R50 sending SMSs to the UK activation number and its still not working....

I dont know about you, but I like keeping my real name, phone number, and other personal details, you know... personal. Maybe, just maybe, thats why its kept in PM... Or perhaps, they are giving out their email/phone numbers to be able to help quicker and more directly...

But hey, dont let that "bad service" from the rep on here stop you from going off like that

Fair point regarding that.

Still a bit laughable that they'll respond on a forum rather than answer their emails in a timely fashion though.

Threads like this scare me because on the 31st my current Vodacom contract number will be converted to Prepaid after which I plan to port it to Cell C.

Perhaps I should just stick with Vodascum...rather the devil I know than the devil I don't?

In my original posting, I was complaining about customer service via the "usual channels" - i.e. 084 145 and the [email protected] email channel - neither of which has responded to date.

On the contrary, the moment I posted here on mybroadband, I had a quick reaction from Cell_C. The PM's were telling me he was escalating the request, and then to tell me the phone would be delivered. Today I received an SMS telling me the phone is en-route.

I think the Cell_C rep here on mybroadband may be only efficient customer service person in Cell-C. Let's encourage him for a job well done.

I'll post about my experiences as soon as the phone actually arrives, and I go through the number porting from MTN (which I converted from contract to pay-as-you-go a few weeks ago).

Update: I have a tracking number and the couriers tell me they are collecting today and will deliver Wednesday!

Horror Stories

You want to know real horror stories
Was at the local mall yesterday -- passed by the Cell C shop to check on Galaxy SIII specials

There the staff stood as useless as eunuchs in a Cairo knock shop

All their terminals were covered over with paper notices -- NO Internet -- NO service

Apparently they have been having problems with their TELKOM connection

The blind leading the blind -- and BOTH falling into the Abyss

For heavens sake WHAT message is this sending to the public ?

SO , I said to the main dude .......

Dude why not connect up a Cell C 3G router and get your computers connected ?

Like talking to a stone -- completely NAAFI

Does the BIG Kahuna have any idea what he has taken on ??????
:wtf:

Hey, Cell_C is my hero!

My iPhone arrived today (a day earlier than promised).

I phoned 084 145 at about 15h00 to trigger the porting of my my cellphone number from MTN to CellC - they told me it would take 24 hours. I immediately received a notification from CellC confirming that the porting request was being submitted.

At 19h30 I received a "Goodbye" sms from MTN and my old phone disconnected.

At 21h00 I put my new SIM into the iPhone and fired it up - it immediately connected, and I can make and receive calls on my old cellphone number on my new CellC iPhone.

It looks like CellC support works great here in myBroadband.

I'm not trying to defend Cell C but you are aware that the staff at the Cell C/Vodacom/MTN shops are "Sales" staff right? Expecting them to quickly connect up a 3G router and get the "computers connected" is like expecting a plumber to design a formula 1 car.

I'm wondering why CellC direct is still charging me for the iPhone 5 contract (which they migrated) and I have not received a phone and have had no feedback to my private message to CellC here either.

I'm about to go postal.
