Something changed on friday night on mintek... Uptil 10pm my graphs show a 14Kb downstream and 10Kb upstream on a mix of local and international P2P.

10 pm came and it dropped off completely...... went to 3Kb down and 1Kb up

With a little bit of net limiting...... limit up stream to 1Kb then i get 12-14KB down, when i go to 2 KB up then i get less than 1Kb down. I have disconnected and reconnected and it made no difference at all...... The Orcs confirmed that they did do a change @ 12pm on friday night.

Anyone got any ideas????? (other than they suck... thats a given)

Also having sucky speeds on Mintek. My speeds went south from Thursday afternoon.

EDIT:
My signal streangth also fluctuates all over the place. Used to be a solid 29 - 30%, but now ranges from 15% to 22%. Gotta love them!

(5.47 KBps)

91.84 Kbps
(11.48 KBps)

60.88 Kbps
(7.61 KBps)

the usual 3 Int speed test done in a row... cant comaplain here... Sunday 10:38am Mw128 twr 60 (woodmead)

Funny thing is this morning my machine was dead in terms of internet. It was connected but it wouldnt load any sites... A bit Torrent had died but it was still connected. I tried to disconnect the modem and it wouldnt diconnect so I rebooted and everything was fine again. Using the USB modem on Windows XP SP2.

So dunno what happened there... any ideas?

It seems that there is some "capping" on single threads again...

Single threads seem to be limited to around 5K. Still spiky, but average is lower (about half) than yesterday. But with multiple threads and p2p and browsing bw seems ok. I 'spose it could just be contention.

Mintek's gone down the drain again. ****eck, sucktek and all the other names used on the forum suddenly came to mind again. Just so that I can confirm that it's not the sunday afternoon blues I'll do the statistical tests again.

MyADSL Local (South African) Speed Test
Your current bandwidth reading is:
16.50kbps
which means you can download at 2.06 KB/sec. from our servers.

Telkom ADSL Speed Test Meter
Your line speed is approximately 93.4 Kbps or 11.4 kBytes/sec

Rodent Test
Your current bandwidth reading is: 109.80kbps

So I do the Telkom Local test again, because I'm getting 1MB/hour on p2p

Your line speed is approximately 98.7 Kbps or 12.1 kBytes/sec

P2P shaping/blocking/capping/limiting? I'll try to download some ftp things and see what happens.

My local BW is superb....
test = 115.4 Kbps or 14.1 kBytes/sec (telkom)

International has gone down a lot since last night:

current
49.2 Kbps (6.15 KBps)
52.32 Kbps (6.54 KBps)
58.88 Kbps (7.36 KBps)

well there you have it...
Maybe a mixture of contention, crappy BW management and network abuse...
eh... still better then ADSL or a modem...

These are my stats for this month so far
incoming 4.1 Gb outgoing 2.2Gb

So ADSL users can bite me :p

This morning local b/w is at 12kB/s (to Internet Solutions), International (one of my servers in the USA)10.5 - 11.0 kBp/s

Only slightly slower than what it has been for the past 2 days!

I will however demonstrate my modem to everyone I know, mainly business people/prospective clients (doing my "show and tell" routine)

If the Bandwidth remains as it is or better, Sentech will gain users and obviously if is goes back to what is has been for the past two months they will suffer the consequences of "word of mouth BAD publicity"

The choice is theirs!

I know by typing this I'm prolly jinxing it, but my speed is quite cool this morning! Downloading at about 18KB/s intl on a "normal" IE download - very nice :)

Might also be 'cos it's morning and there's no one on?

*shrug*

well, might as well kiss it goodbye now, 'cos I said something :)

i was diconnected this morning at 05:30 and only reconnected at 06:30
After reconnect speeds was ok (18KB/s). Still not close to my 32KB/s that I should be getting.

granted nonroker - but it's a step in the right direction... means we're getting there - slowly but surely.

At last - contended bandwidth for 256k users! Getting bursts upto 19 KBps on international. Averaging 13 KBps. Move the average to ± 24 KBps (75% of package) and I will be exstatic!

When I read these posts at 09:30, My heart went 'pitter-patter'so I went to my usual 'test' file on flightsim.com. Download rate was 6,5kB/s.So I did the speed tests again: Rodent9.55KB/s; Sentech 7.58KB/s; Stanford Int'l 1.72kB/s.All tests completed by 09:37.My package is 256 and I'm connected to Mintek. Kai and Headend ,are you still getting those better figures?

well speed on tower 60 woodmead on a 128kb is so fst now my modem cant keep up.
The one test yeilded a 158Kb international !!!!!

I was told by support yesterday when my speeds were crap that they are doing some tweaks to the towers
and to the BW profiler... and before that they said speed would improve more so even when I was getting
9 - 10kb already... so maybe someone at Sentech finally did something...

Now This is broadband

3 int speed tests
108.64 Kbps
(13.58 KBps)

122.08 Kbps
(15.26 KBps)

76.72 Kbps
(9.59 KBps)

thanks whoever is responsible
