Changes make this afternoon. Any difference?

bdn, just downloaded the latest version of Skype at 17.6 KBps. Download of 500KB file from tucows in the US - 19.35KBps.

lots more happy people - that's good! BUT... we're not there yet... like Headend said, give me ± 24 KBps and I'm happy!

well done Sentech! :)

Headend, thankyou for your response. I tried Skype so I have a comparison and at 10:42, although the download started at an enormous rate, after 1,25 MB the rare had slowed to 8,0KB/s, this being characteristic of my experience over the last 3 months.
My signal is all over the place(has been since Wednesday) and averages abou 6%. The RS.. and IS.. are aroun -97 and -95 respectively. My firmware is 4.2.1.8.

I've had good connectivity for the weekend too - on 128k package, getting what I first experienced in April - 14k per second d/l speeds, surfing improved, can stream radio stations. Torrent downloads still suck, but at least they aren't killing all my other traffic.

Well, this happened to me around the 14th as well and then it went back to being sucky for a few days.

God knows, I hope the service stays decent - I've said it before, I can handle as low as 8k per second on my 128k, just so long as I'm not hitting modem speeds - I just can't afford ADSL (got no land line)

Yeah - well, I was going to cancel last week, till I saw what I'd have to go through to get ADSL. If I had a landline already in place, no problem - the thought of getting a landline in and then ADSL through Telkom doesn't appeal to me.

If Sentech can get this right, then I'll hang around till something better shows up - but I'm not going to suffer under false illusions again - the service will have to run smooth for months rather than days before i'm a believer again.

i'm with BB here as well - I'm not a believer all of a sardine - they'll have to keep this going for quite some time before my faith in them is restored.

let's hope they can keep it going.

Looks like I jinx'ed my connection. Now only getting average of 4.5 KBps international. Damn...

Someone pass the highspeed token!

This morning I woke up with speeds of 40kb/s on bittorrent (slowly went down to settle at 30kb/s and now is it's normal 20kb/s) Surfing and checking my mail is alot more responsive WHILE the torrent is on (normally it's damn near impossible checking mail with the torrent running ever since I started getting speed issues)

Im on 512k so you 128k users can suck my ass, still not what I'm paying for, but in the last 3-5 weeks, it's the first time it reached 40kb/s

Local seems fine, but international is very bursty, not contended imo

lets see what happens

Hell, my gran on a scooter with a memory stick is faster than Sentech's MyWireless!

contended = bursty. One things for sure, intl does not seem to be shared anymore...now all Sentech needs to do is start bringing onstream more bandwidth...

lol, as if

hmm... my browsing seems a bit dodgy this morning... sluggish...

Going to download something to see.

Kai are you still playing City of Heroes? If you are, how is MyWi performing on that?

<font color="blue">Telkom needs a leash, ICASA needs some guts, and the </font id="blue"><font color="red">SA consumer</font id="red"><font color="blue"> needs to make it happen</font id="blue">

lew, nope. not playing it anymore - got bored. Not playing anything at the moment - which is even more boring. It performed quite well in MyWi, until things started going South - then the pings got too high, but before that - no problems.

bljech - I'm getting a disgusting 4KB/s - me and my big mouth! :(

As I calculate it, this is a record - 5 days of solid 12.x kB/s on both local and international bandwidth!

Sentech I hope you keep this up.

Still having good international here as well. Just finished SPECViewperf801.exe from international servers at 5 threads @ 8KB/s. 422MB (23/09/2004)
