CHEAP ADSL FROM TELKOM

great buy, only problem is the 2 year lock in..

if you went to a Telkom direct store they might of even given you a 3G modem with 100mb for free with the deal if they still had stock.

Yes, but are you unshaped... I dont have time sit on the net during the evenings and during the day it is just absolutely useless to work on the net, i work from home and need a stable connection..

Nothing wrong with wanting a stable, unshaped etc. connection but dude, the general rule is avoid signing lengthy contracts. I'm just saying...

According to your quote here, it will be unshaped

So now i should pay R408 + R29 p/m to get more data that i will never use and only buy unshaped cap for during office hours.. Makes no sense...

@djroetz, bottom line is that if it was a month to month contract, then it's good.

Also, I could swear I saw an ad that telkom are giving 500MB with a mobile modem with that package.

Then why didnt you guys say so.... Geezzzzzz, all this bickering for nothing.. I will see if i can cancel, i havent signed anything yet.

Okay, this is going to be my last post in this thread - you had asked this: "Ok seeing that everyone here knows so much about Telkom, Give me a nice package and price unshaped for nothing more than R500 a month. "

So I did.

it's only better if you want just internet.. this guy has a girl that like to yap on the phone...

Well, this deal isn't that bad, but for a 2 year contract it's a fail. Consider all the changes that took place in the broadband industry over the past few months. The price of adsl is just dropping more and more. With the adsl industry being so unstable it's a bad idea to enter into any contract longer than 1 year.

Welcome to the forums.
I think you got the telkom simple package...
If you take all the items separate you will have to pay:
Once off:
Phone line installation: R450.00
ADSL Line installation: R600.00
ADSL modem/router: R800.00

Monthly:
Phone line rental: R130.00
384kbps rental: R152.00
ISP: Rxx.xx (depending on what package you take)

If you split the once off costs over 24 months, you should pay about R360.00 without the inclusion of ISP costs.

Meaning that there is no benefit taking out the R389 over 24 months than doing a month-to-month over 24 months.

Telkom are such ripoffs.

It's now time for FACEPALM

If you sign a contract with them for 2 years, words cannot describe how big a douche you are.
Afrihost uncapped + month-month ADSL (self installed) and own ADSL modem works out immensely cheaper than Telscum 1GB in the long run esp on 384

How is Afrihost uncapped cheaper than Telkom 1gb?

Dude with uncapped you can download 20 x more than 1GB. Thus working out quite cheaper at per-GB cost. @ OP. Sounds like an in between deal to me. Not good, not bad. But of course it's inclined to the bad side.
