Cheap VDSL modem

I need to find a cheap VDSL modem to test on client lines.

Most I can find I know for a fact are not suitable for South African flavour of VDSL.

For instance ASUS vdsl capable modems and routers tend to bomb out, which is a shame because the hardware itself is brilliant.

What is available that we know works and is helluva affordable?



BTW who knows what to look for in order to make sure a particular VDSL device is Telkom capable...? An ICASA seal is NOT enough... it could mean the ADSL works...

The MSANs in Pretoria area are from Huawei, so look for one of their cheap VDSL modems...

The Billion 8800NXL is on special at Takealot Daily Deals for R699 today (30th Nov).
It's a good modem but WiFi is erratic at best. At R699 it's great to be used as a modem only.
Pair that with a good WiFi router and you'll be in business.

The zyxel I recommended is better and not far off in price.
It has no wifi issues.

That mweb fon router is R799 and you get R300 off if you are an mweb customer (my parents pay R29 for 1GB to keep their email with them).
