Hi fellow chillie lovers. Glad to have found this post. I have just started out with growing them with the intention of making hot sauce.

Nice review. We were lucky enough to win a set of Picante chilli sauces which was delivered to us today
Their range currently is a Garlic and Mint, Mild, Hot, Extra Hot and Reaper sauce.
The garlic and mint is pretty much mint sauce on chilli and garlic crack. A good hit of that vinegary mint sauce taste followed by a heavy hit of garlic, and a pretty mild heat. Though we always tend to think of lamb when mint is involved, this sauce would be excellent on chicken or as a prego sauce with a twist. Aside from garlic, mint and vinegar, it also has Serrano, Habanero and tomato paste.
Both the Mild and Hot sauces have exactly the same listed ingredients (Serrano, Habanero, garlic, lemon, tomato paste, vinegar etc), but their flavor profiles are quite different. The Mild is far more vinegary, and, as stated, mild in terms of heat. The Hot tickled our fancy more out of the two as the Habanero announces itself quite proudly at the first taste.
The Extra Hot for us is where Picante shines. It has an initially slightly sweet fruity hit before the combination of Serrano, Habanero, Ghost, Carolina Reaper and Peri Peri peppers hit you with their heat and complex flavour variants. A great sauce if you're not afraid of a bit of heat.
There's not too much to be said about the Reaper, but that isn't a bad thing. It's definitively Reaper in taste, and had the expected heat that comes with that. A good reaper sauce that balances the flavour and extra heat quite well, but stay away if your idea of hot is the Extra Hot.

How hot is the reaper if you've tried it yet? Most reapers I've had are watered down and don't make me ask for forgiveness.Ah yes, forgot to link to Sauce Shop, fanks! Let me know which one(s) you order and what you think of it (them)![]()
Saw it in my Somerset West Pick n Pay other day, the label scares meIs this real. My friend sent it to me now but can't find it at my local pick n payView attachment 1095991
So they’ve finally started bringing in scorpion Tabasco. Was surprised that it has a pretty decent bite.
It's hot to me. If you're after a good tasty reaper sauce, I quite like the Wushini one. While the Picante is decidedly reaper, it's a bit low on any other flavour profiles. How hot is the reaper if you've tried it yet? Most reapers I've had are watered down and don't make me ask for forgiveness.
I found them at broadacres spar in jhb, apparently, they're in Cape Town as well. You're from nip city which I have no clue what that isWhat shop did you buy this at? I haven't seen it yet and I'm super keen to try it.

If you can't find it, let me know I can postnet a bottle to you, it's definitely hotter than the standard and even that habanero stuff. I would not call it nuclear, but then again I most likely don't have any taste buds left.Debben
I'll have a look around my local SuperSpar. Very keen to give this a go, what would you compare or estimate the heat level to be comparable to? I'm guessing its hotter than regular red Tobasco.
Not sure why they don't just list the ingredients on their website. My new fav. - https://islander.co.za/
The thing I like is there are no artificial flavorings or salts in it. All are real veggies/chilies.
Been going through a few bottles a week.
Frangipani's on their landing page. I'll keep an eye out for it.My new fav. - https://islander.co.za/
