Chrome vs Firefox

As the saying goes .... "if it isn't broken, then don't fix it" which is why I generally stick with something if it is servicing me well (i.e. Firefox). But then a few weeks ago Firefox started to constantly chow 1 GB of memory after a few minutes. No good on an older laptop with 2GB of RAM. After trying everything to fix the issue I dumped it and installed Chrome. My only regret .... that I didn't do it sooner.

I've got Firefox, IE, Chrome, Opera and Safari installed at work (web-developer so it is a must to test everything).

Used to be I did surfing in Firefox. Then switched to development only in Firefox. Had enough just a few days ago (was already constantly crashing at work but I thought it was because my system was bloated).

With their new release system they totally f#%$ed up Firefox (eg. new version of 2 weeks). I did a fresh install of Firefox the other day for my sister. Signed into Gmail and CONSTANTLY the flash plugin crashes. Start up chrome, and it just chirps along no problem. That is when I decided I will never support them again.

It's too slow, and has become incredibly unstable. Especially with this new release system, half the plugins aren't up to date until the next version is available.

I use to love Firefox because of the plugins, now it is just a POS.

I know it is not a option in this thread...but I just love Opera....the main reason...Turbo. When you are on a limited 3G bundle it can really make it last. :)

On Linux?

Chrome definitely. FF is cool but a tad clunky.

Search.baylon.
Search.conduit.
Those 2 annoying plugins are very difficult to remove from FF but the flash plugin and the 'aw snap' page crashes of chrome pissed me off so I stick with FF.

I like FF but Chrome seems to be better when working on my Linux account :)

My experience is exactly the opposite. Part of the experience is how easy is it to navigate the interface - chrome doesn't work for me

I originally used FF but then I thought I would try chrome, it worked wonders for a while until it kept crashing so often I changed back to FF, a while back they seem to fixed the crashing problems and now it works wonders! Has to be the best piece of software ever, quick, easy and it actually makes pages load faster! Tried the new FF and it doesn't even compare still..

Based on these random characteristics that have been made an issue to choose upon one of these browsers, there is still no perfect answer to say which a better deal is. Many users these days seem to switch from one web browser to another as to fulfill the need of some selected issues. Even after trying out a new web browser, they would still go back to the classic ones that have been used all this while.
Google Chrome
PERFORMANCE – Faster
MEMORY – Higher Consumption
SYNCHRONIZATION – Can synchronize most functions into Firefox
ADD-ONS – Doesn’t Have
AVAILABILITY – Open Source
Mozilla Firefox
PERFORMANCE – Slower
MEMORY – Lower Consumption
SYNCHRONIZATION – Not all functions are compatible to be synchronized
ADD-ONS – Wide amount to choose
AVAILABILITY – Open Source

i find chrome to be fast and just plain fun especially with all the chrome games, only thing seems my chrome tends to fall apart with too many add-ons or plug-ins... but with minimal plugins or addons its lekker fast :p
