viruses and winsock layer

all the guys having connection problems should try the following:
get stinger.exe from macafee website - it finds trjans that nothing else does

get lspfix.exe --- u can find it in google. fixes the layer protocol

I must admit I don't see how that is going to help with the speed problem that has appeared this weekend, consistently across Linux, OS/2, and Windows in my case. If you are an iBurster, why not post your results for a ping to the two sites and the Telkom speed test, as set out in http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?p=163541#post163541 ?

as far as blaming trojans, naa - I have appz for anti-virus/anti-trojan/anti-spyware + a firewall, as a norm. (If you dont have one of each of those, then you're probably asking for trouble to start with) I also use Firefox to avoid giving IE an easy way to slip stuff onto my pc.. Its iBurst, not 'us' :)

SToF, as a potential iBurst customer you are likely to attract some brimstone by suggesting that we are all virally contageous, trust me it is a WBS problem, we all have Firewalls, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spy&Adware ;)

Agreed, most of us run multiple platforms as well.

update at 2.18pm sunday.
I said to Portia, just to stir things up, that UUNET say they dont have any problem at all, so what's the story as regards the slow speeds..

Portia then says 'the technicians have found the problem'. I say 'oh yeah?'
I asked exactly when did she last speak to the technicians - she replies 'An hour ago'

According to her, they're 'working on it at the moment' -and they 'havent told her exactly what the problem is/was' .

Helpdesk closes at 5pm today, for those folks who want to keep an eye on the story.

suggesting that we are all virally contageous

If someones tcp /ip is stack is broken (for those who run gates software) one may not realise...........
and at least if it isnt you can be sure that its not:)
lsp merely repairs the 4 main files that windows uses
or else for those who are intersted search the google for tcp stack and you find the commands to restore it to brand new.................

as for suggesting that that eveyone who is experiencing connection problems
has virii is not what i meant :)
mebbe iburst installs quench stuffs without them knowing?

also you can scan yer pc with pccillin and get no virus ....scan with norton and maybe find one or two scan with avg and find 10 ............. also spybot seek and destroy will find stuffs that other things dont.

Me thinks there are a few infected M$ machines on the Ibust network, had 23 hits on port 445(MICROSOFT-DS) in an hour from the Iburst subnets
