Well at least we have something to talk about whilst we're waiting for WBS to post something here...

Its less frustrating then thinking bout all the problems I have had with them so far. ;)

Great! I especially like the individual base maps - don't remember seeing those before. I now see that, although Rosebank is my nearest station, I get absolutely no signal from there!

I can now get good signal from Sandton and Randburg, some signal from Byanston, and a smidgen from Northcliff.

They just need to update the overall map now...

Where or what exactly is: "Rand President Park"?

Maybe you will get better joy from Rivonia which is scheduled for the end of the month....

Well.....at least Menlo Park is now scheduled for 20/02/2005 and the "K" has changed from pure white to dark green. Funny coincidence that my ST contract expires in May :D Any pics on how an Iburst tower/equipment looks ?

I am not sure how accurate those maps are, it shows me as having 0 coverage, unless im blind I have 100% signal with 0% error rate.

Anyone knows where is that mysterious link to the page on the iburst web site which they promised a few weeks ago about the status of the network, faults etc?????

Maybe they sent someone on a frontpage course.....

their site isn't being done by themselves. and i doubt the company that is doing it knows what they're doing.

the interface may seem cool, but the functionality... where is THAT? WBS has a freakin' tower up/down status report to the minute, it's as easy as to just write a damn web service and http tunnel data nessacary to keep the website up to date with up to the minute faults.

Shouldn't take me more than 2 hours to code...

I find it helps if I pronounce your nick noonie - it spoils all your fun of course, but it helps me keep my sanity ... :D

Wanted to look at the new and improved coverage maps everyone has been mentioning.
Clicked on "Get Iburst" and on "Networ Coverage" which is this link - http://www.iburst.co.za/rollout.php
And I get:
The page cannot be found

Is this the link everyone was talking about? Would like to take a closer look at where my dismal speeds are coming/not coming from :D

Chris

Looking good

At last there is a Operations manager in the iburst call centre. I had a network problem on my machine, call the centre and got a bit peeved not getting the problem sorted. Eventually i was put through to this manager, a guy called Sean Green. Sorted me out in no time, even though we discovered it was not an iburst problem. This guy is jacked. Positive move WBS. You must be listening to us.

This guy even gave me his cellular number and direct office number. He does not seem shy to listen or assist.

I AM A HAPPY CHAPPY :)

Authentication Server

Spoke to somebody at the helpdesk +- 9:50pm.

He said that they had identified the problem with the authentication server and it should be fixed within 45min. An hour and half later... still sitting on dialup...

Hmm, I think that Slimothy & Impressed will be experiencing their first WBS downtime as a result of the authentication server failure. :p

this is ridiculous, although in the past when they said they'll fix a problem and did, the authentication server needs some kind of redundancy because this has happened more than 3 times already!

plus, I've tried to call help desk from 9:20 - 10:50 onwards, NO ANSWER, I just wasted around R20 sitting on the phone listeneing on how f2cking important my call is.

no, 1000% more competent.

i've heard somewhere wbs had meetings with sentech or whatever. now i f2cking hope they didnt take some of their managing "tips" and started implementing those, because I sure as hell will move to something better.

Even if I have to move to a place where ADSL is available.... anything to get rid of BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE

Agreed, another question though, if only the authentication server failed those people on the network should have stayed on the network, correct me if I am wrong.

Which brings to mind another issue, the constant disconnections. I am getting tired of dropped connections, A quick check of my router logs will show at least 12 disconnections a day, some days I noticed around 30 dropped links.
