Likewise. BTW, for email I have set up Mercury32 (Pegasus) for a reliable SMTP server for myself. When are we gonna see mail now, WBS?

Matheo.

Yes, although effective, you wouldn't have to do the ping thing if you were getting decent 2-way signal strength. I also live in Hyde Park, and also suffered the stuttering/unresponsive thing until I relocated my modem to its current "sweet spot". I believe the problem is caused by acks from your PC not reaching, or being lost at the base station. Although MTU and RWIN can fine tune your upload/download, and maybe provide some improvement, it is not going to cure your problem.

Strengthening the signal is the only solution, and that means a new location for the modem or an external antenna.

external antenna

Gatecrasher.

Thanks for the info. where can I get an external antenna? what will it cost and how to connecit it with my PCMCIA modem?

ic, would you mind sending me an invite? :P *edit*
Thanks!

From WBS and I have no idea of cost. How to connect it? I plead total ignorance, since I'm only familiar with the UTD modem and I haven't needed an external antenna...yet.

why not syn's or ack syn's? why acks only, so out of all the TCP packets to be lost its only acks?? Basically the reason for stuttering and unresponsiveness is the same reason iBurst pings will never be like ADSL... because of the seamless switching algorythym, it slows transmition down to the point where yes there may be packet loss (any kind of packet not just acks) and pings that time out. However if we never had that algorythym you couldn't connect to multiple stations at once which would increase the load per station at anyone time and make iBurst crap for everyone (even me) and it wouldn't be very mobile. When you found your sweet spot you basically made your modem send and recieve from one tower, meaning less need for switching and thus... less stuttering.

I Am Back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Ok guys.... take it easy...

Still trying to sort out many other issues.

My own fault, on my last return to operations i ignored the doc's.

Took my time, second time around. Need to give my full att. to things.

My apologies for the lack of my presence.

Returned to work thursday.

You all have my email address and my telephone numbers.

I prefer the personal touch, could take time when needing to return +- 600 calls. Please be patient.

In the last 3 days i have synched myself to the load and am almost ready for the devil himself.

It has become clear to me that the issues have been listed in multiple threads making it difficult to assimilate problems experienced.

Tell you what......

Email me direct with issues that are concerning you.

Thank you to the well wishers.

Thank you Sir ;) .

That e-mails address's sole purpose is for the above :P .

Discretion

It is totally up to you as a client of the S.A. broadband offering as to what product you would like to use/support.

I would never knock any other B/B supplier or degrade any competition that we have so long required in our country.

If you have discovered that Iburst is not for you....Contact me directly.

State your reasons and lets us assist your conversion to whichever solution you find (in your opinion) better than Iburst.

I have found constant criticism from certain members.

I would not like to have a heart attack in trying to please the unpleasable.

Too many people hide behind their pseudo's ... Someday i mightmeet IC and not even realise it... I will not shoot first.... All opinions are valued. I would however like to know who i am speaking to.
