I downloaded the latest bios and driver's. The bios in the modem is the latest and i reinstalled the drivers but still no luck :(

I can get mine up all the time, you should maybe go to your general practitioner, they can work wonders for you :P

YOU ARE PAYING A DISCOUNTED RATE FOR A SERVICE THAT HAS NOT BEEN LAUNCHED YET AND WILL HAVE HICUPS
I agree with this as well, but it is getting passed the bearable stage. I think what aggrevates this the most is that we are left in the dark speculating over what the problem is and when it will be solved. I would fine if I was contacted and said this is the problem, this what we are doing and this is when we are hoping to have it fixed.

I think they need to realise as well that most of the users now are the "power" users ie: users who can make quite a bit of bad press about problems they experience. Customer relations with such users need to be handled carefully. Well at least this is my opinion. I still have faith in Iburst and hoping they will pull through not because I have vested interest but because we need descent internet access in SA. Telkom needs some healthy complitition!

My friend, Sentech did the exact same things x 1000000 over several MONTHS. You're obviously NOT a Sentech user, trust me, iburst have had a better turnaround time on their problems as it is now WAY faster than Sentech ever had...

I hope you didn't borrow that clock from Sentech :D

Website is still down ...

Same prblem here. Since thursday no reliable serv ice with no badwidth at times. Today, difficulty logging on and 30% signal! Last weekend was teh same story. Atleast 10 -12 days this month with conectivity problems.

Calling the call centre is not usefull as it seems like the consultants asks you to conduct several things, which seem like shooting in the dark!!! Anyway, I know everything off by heart by now....so can I be a Iburst consultant????

Although this is a test phase, there needs to be communication to paying clients as well as one expects short outages and not these days without any reliable service. Surely we cannot be billed for the month.

I tried to call today, was given a number in accounts to query if we are going to be billed for a full month but got a voicemail... See you guys can get thro... Nsipo @ 8774720.

Thanks for all the info, atleast now we have a better understanding of the problem & a eta

Well, for Sihen & Co, Midrand tower is playing musical connections with me tonight - and I'm losing. I'm being disconnected regularly, and it takes a good 30 secs to log in again, only to be dropped a few minutes later. Highly irritating when one is supposed to be studying online. Looking at 2 leds, but with drops to 1/0.

I sincerely hope it is because it is being upgraded - although if it is I would like a reason why we weren't informed before the time too.

shihen plz let the power of the community support WBS. Give the community the tools and we all solve the bugz quicker
The community will gladly support WBS and Iburst as long as we are kept in the light as to what is happening. Well thats my feeling anyway. I may be a bit frustrated and annoyed right now but I still support Iburst.

What problem are you talking about?
The Website, the no signal or the full signal worth 20 kbits/s? :(

They're pulling a Sentech on us guys, I'm calling everyone I referred to them to cancel (they'll trust me enough to cancel immediatly)

I suggest you guys do the same...

Dont be stupid, seriously this is the pre-launch phase you cant expect perfect service without any downtime. Downtime is inevitable.

If this was happening during the commercial launch than by all means I would be right next to you if not in front of you telling people nay but right now I am standing with Iburst on this one until I am proved wrong.

Dont be to hasty in your descisions. Though I can understand why people are feeling a bit insecure because I am sure many of us if not all of us have been burnt in the passed directly or indirectly by Telkom or Sentech or oth ISP's.

I think what is aggrevating this situation is the lack of information about what is happening being passed onto the customers by WBS. I think things would be easier on their part and the customers happier if they are kept uptodate with the problems and such rather than having to scrounge for it.

Just to let you know I am still sitting with no bandwidth while many others that were experiencing the problem arent anymore. Trust me I am also frustrated. So I do have ground to stand on.

Just remember: This is the PRE-launch not the COMMERCIAL LAUNCH.

Yes Ravilj...we know this is pre-launch. This is my gripe - They are charging us R450 for the "Soft Phase" which is approximately 75% of total cost. Now I don't know about anyone else, but to me, this suggests a 75% preview or indication of what the service will be at the end of the day - or another way to look at it - if I'm paying 75% of total, I usually expect a 75% availability let alone performance.

Now I have already experienced at least 6 days total downtime since getting this 2 weeks ago (past 4 consecutive days of no service whatsoever) If you work that out, it already gives you approximately 20% downtime and we are only halfway through my month of service.
Add the low performance of the days that the service actually has been available (and I'm talking less than 28,800kbps modem speeds if you look at my other replies) and things are really looking very bad.
Throw in the general lack of concern and communication on WBS's part (not even answering helpdesk over the weekend) and we have a disaster.

I know this is a lot of complaining - at the end of the day I would just like some form of notification stating the following: Area affected (i.e Roodepoort base station so I know if I'm being affected or not. Possible explanation (i.e Amplifier is blown) and an estimated time that it will be fixed so that I know that I should just leave it until 2 weeks time before trying again.

I don't think that these are unrealistic requests

I had to come out of the lurking mode to support Mayh3m on this one.
Sick and Tired of the "Soft Launch" crap! thats it see u next week!

Hahaha

iBurst well on its way to becoming Sentech 2.0.

When Sentech started to go off the rails they also clammed up tighter than a nuns a55hole .... very bad idea. The rumours and speculation that filled the vacuum engendered such bad feelings towards Sentech that they never really recovered.

And now iBurst is treading on exactly the same landmines...

On their heads be it

Recap for iBurst management: An informed client has 100x the ****-swallowing threshold that an uninformed rumour beset client has.

"We're working on it ..." is not good enough.
