Complex refuses Vumatel Fibre

You can speak to your owner and be made a proxy, it's probably beneficial as you actually live in the complex. That is one of the biggest reasons I left complex life, the biggest moaners are the ones who don't attend meetings, don't show any interest but as soon as something might effect them they will moan.

Yes, in theory this is easy, but whether it's legal to do it that way I don't know.

As I said, I had zero issues, my fiber is up and running for more than a year already.

Trust me, sell them on being able to can DSTV and get their shows via Netflix and Showmax, so instead of paying R900 for DSTV plus R700 for LTE, they pay R900 only and get Netflix for R150.

The Ditch DSTV approach is not effective. Also, not everyone will end up with a device that will support DSTV Now, and not everyone will have access to a username and password.

I've more than once closed/locked my door on a drunkard or a tenant.
Drunkards - don't remember nothing tomorrow.
Tenants - unfortunately your broken toilet/electrics/etc in the unit is not a complex matter that is between you and your unit owner. I attempted to assist once and after that I promised not again so now I refer them to their unit owner and tell them the trustees are not responsible for that.


We've already bought a typical house on the street. When this complex home sale is fully transfered I will be stepping down and after that I hope to never live in a complex again. . .
 
@OP - I doubt that you have any legal ground to stand on. The common property belongs to the body corp (each owner is part of the body corp), and the body corp decides whether alterations to the common property may be made. You basically want to force other owners to accept unwanted changes to their property. Your desire for those changes is no more important than their desire not to have those changes.

Your best option is to speak to the other owners and convince them of either the benefits to them, or that the installation will not have a negative impact on their property (the common property). Think of it this way: some other owners will not benefit in any way from fibre. They're happy with whatever ICT they have, have no requirement for anything else, and don't see why they should allow trenching, digging and a bunch of contractors on their property.
 
Unfortunately, fibre is not a right you are deprived of - merely a luxury - and the HOA took a majority decision so suing will lead you nowhere.

You’ll have to lobby in your complex and get it voted.

Under new laws you can be a trustee there.

LoL, I could attend their AGM and insist that I stand for election. They cannot deny that. However unless I get sufficient votes I will not be able to become a trustee.
You can ask your unit owner to second you...
 
This is why I`m glad the part from your wall to the street is owned by the municipality. No one would have fibre with this types of logic

Until there are issues, you could still go to the AGM and actually be apart of the whole process, you do live there.

If you are in the position of practically needing the info DM me and I will refer you to someone that has done it
Dont want to waste his time otherwise

What he did was get the complex to own the line and then add the WiFi onto the levy (for those that bought it)

No, I don't practically need the information, I just wondered how they did it.

So it seems that they are working in conjunction with an ISP.

The "sales pitch" gets done
Other peeps buy in or they don't. However it is best if they are well informed before/during the sales pitch stage.

I was referring to reselling of Internet.

Since then, I have made the assumption that they are probably doing this in conjunction with an ISP.
