My brother is looking for software that gives him the ability to take control of another pc via his pc. He wants to move his mouse and then the other mouse on the other computer moves... (his phrasing). He wants to use it for demonstrations... He sits at his computer while other people are at their computers, then he can do a presentation and everyone can see it on their computers... he can't use a projector or something similar...

UltraVNC , Teamviewer, Logmein.

Teamviewer and Logmein don't require port forwarding, UltraVNC does.

At first I though of Remote Desktop sharing/admin/assistance/etc as jsheed suggests but that's one on one, think he's more after a Whiteboard type application for realtime presentations.
 
Another option could be something like Synergy+, which allows you to control the mouse and keyboard on multiple computers at the same time. Only good if the computers are identically set up, like in a lab environment, which might be the case here?
