Computer dead

Hi, thanks to smartphones I can ask help via the phone. Got a Winxp machine. Lately it frozes when it works hard. I ran some antivirus stuff and then suspect the ram. I download a pogram called memtest. You put it on a cd and boot your machine with it. So the proggie started, and at 22% the program also seems to froze. After a while I restarted.
No screen appears, but the comp is running.
So, I cannot start it in safe mode as no display apears.

Personally, I'd take everything out, dust it all off, put it back in, reset the BIOS, and try again.

Usually near the battery, there will be 3 pins, two of them covered by a jumper thingy, take this thing of pin 1+2, and place it on pin 2+3, then seat back on pin 1+2.

It will say something about BIOS reset or similar.

Done.

Did not find any "link" so removed the battery.
Now I happy, wife happy.
