Cell C has mention a known issue that will be affecting Gauteng (midrand area is expected to be most affected). I can't narrow done the specifics atm but will post more info when i am able to. They know what the issue and are trying quickly resolve it before it gets out of hand.

The possible issues may include:
disconnects
slow speeds
no data throughput
ok, so in midrand and have had no connection for the last hour. just got on now and battling to post here.
yesterday was ok, the day before was a nightmare.
When is it considered out of hand?

How is my relating my call centre experience not constructive? It took that long. I wasn't helped. That's how it played out. End of story. Must everything posted here be glowing praise for it to pass your test? You're deluded if you think I should post by your rules.

Dont want to get into a Kat fight just saying.
Did you read what i asked ? (Yes but maybe someone has experienced the same issue before and has some advice.) Asking for help not for someone to flame about bad service.
FYI just got a pm from Cell asking me some more info

Good Signal and Connected but no data flows

:wtf:

I am in Kyalami area. Anyone experience the following:

Signal strength is good
Modem connects fine
Speeds ok for a while. But leave your laptop idle for a few minutes, and when you try and surf, no data flows. Download speed is zero.
Disconnect and connect again and data flows again.....!!!!!?????

Help Please. Mr Woooosh.......

im in noordwyk midrand...past few days it has been painfully slow!!! connected at HSPA+, great signal, but no data.......when it works, google.co.za takes almost 1 minute and times out!! every other website begins to load and half way through it just dies....

service is extremely useless....

RSSI

I have the same problem in various locations and when I look at the RSSI it is around -99db. I was in a location where the RSSI was -79db and everything was working fantastically Downloading at 6 Mbps. Question--what is a reasonable RSSI to get a working connection??

Same here and I'm in Blairgowrie. Have reported and followed up and received absolutely no feedback. CellC are simply a bunch of ****ers

Awwww, language filters. How cute. The best was yesterday. -83dBm, light blue light on modem and no throughput whatsoever

Data connection established but no data received

Got a strange issue - my 5GB/month has been working fine on HSPA+ for the last two months, but for the last couple of days it connects fine, but does not receive any data. Bandwidth charts just show a small constant amount of sent data, but zero received data. The connection itself seems to be fine, and checking the data bundle shows 3GB of data remaining. This is in the gauteng region, Edenvale/Bedfordview.

Any ideas?

I just tested the modem with a vodacom sim card, and it connects properly and sends/receives data, so it's definitely not a software or hardware issue. So it would be either a provisioning mistake of some kind, or a network error? Cell C's fault either way though. :(

And Cell C seemed to be doing so well lately too - I hope they realize that return customers are the main part of a business like this? Won't get many return customers if your service is down for days at a time. :(

Yup, it's back alright...

I can't transfer any data for longer than 5 minutes at a time... I've disconnected 5 times in the last 15 minutes! :-(

I'm having the exact same issue as of today. Working on EDGE in the meantime.

@Windpomp

Ok, so my connecting is working again.

Don't really know if it was something on my end that made this happen or if cellc found a solution. What I did was manually changed to EDGE about 11am this morning. Opened up my email manager (Thunderbird) and it started to download my emails. This took to long so I left it like that until now. When I changed back to "WCDMA only" it worked.

I have the same issue. If you connect and quickly visit a site, it works. Then allow 1-2 minutes idle time and woooosh , - no it's all gone. No data flows but connected...

I have the same issue in Randburg, its connected but cannot surf any site
I'm using the black dongle 21Mbps network.
Still a problem today as well.

So, it's down to Cell C to fix THEIR problem, and get us running like before.

Waiting, patiently...
