console vs pc

Hmm dont have GoW so not sure... think it might be though, but I dont have any FPS on the XBOX right now. I'd much rather play FPS on my PC with a keyboard and mouse until I get used to using a controller more.

With te controller though.. I was talking about the feel as well, I ment the PS3 took forever to setup not the control (There are about 40+ major reports of this out on the net). So sorry, my bad.. to quote somebody on the SA xbox forums who recently got to test out the PS3 ... "The only way I can explain what the six axis controller felt like was a very light weight dummy cell phone. It kept disconnecting from the PS3, so I had to keep plugging it back into the USB port."

hmmm... well this is all very intresting, i mean the part about the ps3 really grabbed me, and even the quote that Kalvaer was quite the slam dunk, but honestly WTF DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH ME GETTING A PC UPGRADE OR GATTING A CONSOLE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Look at the end of it all you'll have to sacrifice in an either or situation. The console isn't out right better nor is the PC by any measure. If most games you want are on console then buy that, if though FPS is what you like, then buy PC.

Alan Wake, Unreal3, UT2K7, Crysis etc... all PC exclusive, but GOW, PGR, DOA, GT4, T6, FF etc.. all Console exclusive. depends on what games you like the most

Well it all goes back to my first post http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb/showpost.php?p=769286&postcount=27, All I was trying to do now was let ya know that if you go for a console.. i'd rather go with the XBOX

ie:
Now anyway to answer your first question, I've been a hardcore gamer most of my life, spending a minimum of 3-4 hours a day during the week on my PC playing anything from online RPG's to old retro 1980 arcade games. 2 months ago I bought myself an Xbox because of a game due to be released called Mass Effect that I wanted to play, and is only being release on the XBOX.

I've never looked back once, I still play on my PC, but the Xbox is a nice change and the games are really incredible. The Live features of the Xbox also makes it really interesting where almost all the games have multi player options to play online. Hell my Wife has even started playing games with me now and we spend quite a bit of time playing together on the XBOX

I still play on my PC and love it, But the XBOX right now for me was better value for money (especially since I was planning on building a Home Entertaiment PC which the XBOX now does for me). My PC can still play 99% of all the games out there, maybe not on the best res, but they all work, Though now I can play games that I couldn't before since they are only made for the console. I really want to play Mass effect when it comes out.. but it doesn't come out on PC...

As ShockG said its going to be your call.. if it was me.. I'd say get the XBOX now, save up some money until your PC cant play the games you want anymore and then upgrade your PC that time.. you end up getting the best of both worlds

lotsa things :D
All technology related though ;)
=========================

This debate sadly is because of pricing. If PC parts in SA were the right price then it would be easier for more people to own both, sadly this isn't the case and because of this the console manages to out do the PC in practical terms.

As much as I personally can't wait for Crysis, I would never purchase a PC over a console because of one game.

If you take for instance that a high end gaming machine costs R20, 000 this side there's no way you can justify that over an XBOX at 3,700. However in the US, Europe even that same PC is R12,000 and for a far wider variety of choices. So for the same 20K you can get XBOX+games, PC+games and still have money left over.

Unfortunately the greed that is the SA suppliers makes life difficult for all. But then again, that at the very top the owners of Rectron, Corex, Esquire, Sahara and a few others are related family members or at least share the same surname should tell you something...

To me, there is a certain peer factor involved with whether to go console or PC, I hope to see the ability to network games across the platforms, I've heard there might be support for this in Vista?

well with the ps3  , you can play against people on computer in unreal tournament. and do you guys know when SPORE is coming out. and is it me or is carbon really short...i've had it 4 6 hours and im 52% percent complete.

That would be great, maybe even mean some games will find their way unto the PC :)
One of the greatest losses for the PC is that it'll never get Gears Of War. :(
That game is absolutely wonderful and and would be even better I think of the PC with high res graphics and a better control mechanism, but sadly this will not be.
Unreal3 then no? :)

Yeah carbon is super short, finished it 2.5X times already, and I really think it's far better than MW despite it's shortness.

Yeah excellent game with super Visuals courtesy of Sweeney and his goons. Wonderful stuff that makes the XBOX360 a must have *almost*
I just hope U3 plays as intense if not more, cause that would rawk :)

ok... now lets just say the 360 and ps3 were the same price or watever, which of the two is better???
And lets say you can easily get a hold of a PS3 and have ready access to considerable selection of games . . . .? That's the kicker for me - availability.

Like i mentioned in the gaming forum

I think the reason there are different consoles are because...simply...there are different people out there....

So some would buy a Wii due to it's pricing, remote and nintendo based games where others would buy a Xbox360 due to it's price VS performance and PC style Lan and gaming...and then you get people like me who have been with sony since PS1 and lived into the likes of Gran Turismo and Devil May Cry..and who will stick with what they like....and yeah don't forget the PC gamers..

at the end of the day it's about spending money on a gaming solution that you feel fits your style and bank...and just enjoying the gaming experience

...Good gaming guys! (and girls) and maybe we would have more time to enjoy our system than breaking everybody down because there gaming solution is different to yours..

That's my 2c... I love my Sony and will stick with it...but I still respect Nintendo and MS consoles....competition is what gives the gaming market a boost

I need to get my Bit in aswell.

I'm a big fan of MMORPG games. So here I was thinking that I'll never get away from my PC. Then the most amazing thing happened. XBOX LIVE !!!!

Yip that's it... No more spending 10k a year on a PC. and the best thing of all I don't have to cancell My ADSL as this is now connected to My XBOX 360 24/7.

Yes i hear you saying but that is not MMORPG. Yes and neither was there any when PC's started. I honestly think a PC is now becoming an Office tool and nothing more. Gaming is going to be console... Except that.

Accept that you mean. ;)
No that won't happen. The PC makes it possible for the console to get further development. We've been here before,. what was in the PC end up in the console and so forth. How else would console test hardware/software if it wasn't for the PC platform.

FPS+RTS are not going to vanish

ok, to me shockg is a god here, and this is because he knows wat he is taking about, pc gaming is not ever going to die out, sure maybe third person game will become more scarce, but fps were diesgned for pc, that's like saying that bicycles are going to completly disappare because motobikes and cars are around, pc gaming is a very very very big business, and could be bigger if it weren't to piracy. but it would be a very stupid to just abandend pc gaming. sure maybe the next gen of kids will take more of a liking to consoles of pc's coz of the simplicity. another piont is a biggy, if it weren't for pc's you wouldn't have direct x. without pc gaming microsoft wouldn't have dx, and consoles are using dx9, with dx10 on the door steps of pc gaming, we going to see just how the consoles graphics would compare to the pc's graphics.

Another reason that PC gaming will always be around is because it is so easy to port games from Xbox 360 to PC, so even if the PC gaming market was entirely dead, there would still be PC games available because Game designers want to make as much profit as possible, so they release games on dual platforms to get profit from console and PC gamers.

Also if you look at the price of PC's over the last 10 years you will see thats its becoming cheaper and cheaper to buy PC's and im sure pretty soon there won't be a diff in price between PC's and Consoles, 10 years ago a 486 would cost you R15000.

Almost every household has a PC in it these days, and its pushing the price of PC's down dramatically. because PC's are for everyone not just for gamers.

This is not the case with consoles.
