Err............Funn factor? I thought that was the goal of every console... Otherwise if you meant novelty... then yes, the Wii has that down.

Nope PS3 and eXBox gaming is hardcore gaming for serious gamers. Have not seen a granny or todler do that yet. What the future holds with the Natal "fiasco" and the Sony "wand" we will see soon.

To make it less confusing can we maybe refer to the PS3 and Xbox as "niche market consoles" and the Wii as a "mainstream console"?

Fixed. Yeah then we have one item more than the Xbox again. I working (as opposed to Natal) and more advanced (as opposed to Wiimote) motion controller.

Then the PS3 outshines even the WiiWii with Kiddo and Granny plays

I'd like to see the demographics of those sales figures, if you were to see who purchased the consoles, for whom they made the purchase if not for themselves and level of knowledge in terms of gaming i.e. hardware/software knowledge, gaming experience etc. I'm pretty sure we'd see a different picture, I think it can pretty much be summed up in the quote above

Not to say that the Wii ain't fun at a family gathering but for week in, week out gaming, I don't think it comes anywhere near the PS3 or Xbox!

Sony will never make it if they stall after spending millions in the middle of recession to create a driving simulator. It's called common sense. I smell crash and burn.

Sony released project natal years ago and called it eyetoy... somehow it didn't revolutionise the industry as they hoped so they sold it to Microsoft

If they were smart they bought the Wii first, then waited for the prices of the other two to drop. Next would have been an XBox 360, and finally recently a PS3.

Since Sony doesn't market the PS3 for humanitarian reasons, but rather to make profit it follows that there probably won't be a PS4...there are easier ways to burn money. At least with the bluray player you'll be able to enjoy it for many years to come.
