Constant disconnects

3. A forum suggested the disconnects might be due to insufficient power to the modem. I bought a powered USB hub today and it worked for a while (leading me to discover the irritating fact that depending on your download rate/volume Cell C switches you between WCDMA and HSPA+, this is a Nightmare in on-line gaming!). The disconnects, however were destined to continue. I have noticed that the modem light changes to dark blue (WCDMA, I believe) and does not disconnect (as far as I've noticed), but as soon as it turns Teal or light blue (HSPA+, I believe) the problems start. Fail.

LotterTC, could you please clarify if you still had "connecting to device" problems AFTER you started to use the powered USB hub? Or was it only that the modem disconnected from the internet? These are two separate issues.

Canyon 7-port USB hub. Round thing that looks more like an air freshener.

Thanks for the option. I set my power option to the "recommended" settings (HP) and in the advanced power settings I disabled selective USB suspending (or some such...)

Will report back if it (connection and or internet) disconnects again.

Also try plugging the USB directly into thr PC, no hub

Disconnect (to USB) problem continued last night, with powered USB hub and changed laptop power settings.

I bought the USB hub because I had this problem initially, thought it was a power issue.

Will try to connect with the altered PC power settings, no hub. Worth a shot... :/ Will go in to Cell C tomorrow and see if I can't get the modem replaced.

Anyone think that it might just be the tower? Haven't tested in another area as yet. [Edit] Well if sean12 gets the same prob in a diff area I guess that's not the tower then...doh.

Was fine all day but since this evening getting disconnected every few minutes :(

I didn't take it back. Want to try and fix it. It is USB 2.0! Transfer speeds from a stick are way too fast to be 1.0! I just don't know what could be wrong. EDGE only mode still works FINE. I am almost convinced its the towers. Will make a point to try it in a different location.

Well, mine is now disconnecting (without saying 'disconnecting') every 5min. Always plugged into a powered hub. Tried directly into the PC, no change.

However, even when it DOES connect, now my screen is shaking (interference). Never done that before, and doesn't do that when I use my cell to test.

Did the same just before Christmas (the interference thing), but cleared up after unplugging and trying again.

Really, this CellC thing is starting to look like a big mistake on my part.

Mine also constantly disconnects....? As if im removing and plugging in my dongle every 30sec to 1min. Is this and can the USB power output really cause these problems? What else may be causing this problem? The rest was looking/working fine, have not had enough time to play around as it disconnects to many times and ****s me off.

Cell C 3G Disconnects

I got the 5 Gig a month 3G card. The first month was superb. No problems and the connection was super fast.

Now, my 3G card constantly disconnects.

I'm starting to understand why we had to pay upfront for the full 12 months. Is it that Cell C has taken on too many clients and now does not have the capacity to handle all this broadband ?

Or is it just me ?
Very disappointed.
