Helloo! I seem to be having problems with my Billion 400G router and my ADSL. At the moment my Internet and DSL light on my router flash constantly and my Internet light turns red.

I get disconnected every 2-10 minutes. Switching my router on and off seems to solve the problem temporarily. I've switched routers and experience the same problem on a NetGear router. Changing ISP's does nothing to solve the problem.

Could someone please shed some light on my problem or at least point me in the right direction to get is solved.

Thanks!

The DSL light flashing is an indication that your ADSL line itself is unstable, so changing ISP accounts won't make any difference.
The connection to the ISP is indicated by the Internet light.

Go to your ADSL modem's ADSL statistics page and post your stats here.

Most likely you have like a 4Mbps connection, but your line attenuation is too high to maintain a stable connection.
If that is the case, then you usually have 2 options:
1) Test/buy a better ADSL modem: TP-Link/D-Link
2) Downgrade your ADSL speed

Sometimes it helps getting Telkom to fix the line - which usually only works if you know your line was stable at those speeds before.

Hi Pada! Thank you for the advice! I'll upgrade my problem and see if it persists. I've never had the problem before on my 4mb line. I think it could be a problem at my exchange.

Would changing my Filters or having Telkom over to test each Jack point at my house, make any difference? Would upgrading my Line Speed as opposed to downgrading, change anything?

By ADSL statistics are you referring to my SNR Margins and Line Attenuation? This is what I have so far.

SNR Margin Up: 24.60 dB SNR Margin Down: 29.0 dB
Line Attenuation Up: 26.0 dB Line Attenuation Down: 11.0 dB

Those SNR margins are excellent!
You shouldn't have any issues with a 4Mbps connection with those high SNR margins / low line attenuation values.

Perhaps you've incorrectly installed your ADSL/POTS filters?

Make sure that you're connecting all your telephones/fax machines/alarm through POTS filters. The ADSL signal should not be filtered at all. You can connect the ADSL modem to a splitter, but DO NOT connect it to a POTS filter!
You do get splitter filters from Telkom, which has phone and ADSL sockets. On that splitter filter, only the phone socket gets filtered, so it should be fine to connect your ADSL modem to the ADSL socket on that one ;)

You can always remove all the other telephonic devices and filters, and only plug in the ADSL modem. This is always a good way of checking whether the filters are working/faulty.
