Constant Slow Speed

Please help me someone

Most nights after 7pm my 4mb dsl line slows down to, sometimes, 0.05mb, 0.5mb, almost unusable. I phone Telkom (who are my isp as well) regularly and they reset my port. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. On a good day I can get 3mb, but at night never.

Late last year I got a call from a technician at Telkom saying the exchange (Northmead, Morehill, Benoni) has 9000 people on and us full.

Surely this cant be true or they would be having 9000 call every night with people complaining.

Someone has told me they could physically move my port to another one (as in the calbe at the exchange and not a computer based move).

my package us a capped 20gig + 20gig, but was on uncapped and same issue.

Im now video streaming with Netflix and it just keeps loading every few minute, not worth watching.

What more can I do?
 
Sounds like exchange congestion. Send a private message to TelkomZA so they can investigate and give you a clear answer.

I agree. I think the techie said 9000, meaning a lot of people and not actually 9000 people.

Perhaps Telkom does get a lot of complaints from the other users as well.

Do you know a neighbor with ADSL? How is his/her speed?

Most people probably don't even realise their internet is slower than it should be.
