Contemplating a Vasectomy-any advice?

They also put me under... Where did you get yours done?
Karl Bremer, Cape Town. Free of charge. It was some Marie Stopes initiative to get guys to voluntarily get themselves snipped - it was actually aimed at the lower income groups.

One of the ladies (friend of mine) who worked at Marie Stopes told me they get like two or three people per week, and if I knew anybody, I should let her know because they had a donor willing to sponsor a certain number of snips and they were far from the number of snips that they catered for. At that point myself and the wife already decided we only wanted two kids (which we already had at the time), so after talking it over with the wife, I called the lady up.

I called her the Friday morning. She called me back the afternoon to ask if I'm willing to go in the Monday. A friend of mine with 4 kids (the last: twins, unplanned) almost choked me to get him the details as well :)

So in the two of us went and the rest is history.

That's actually quite a good scheme.... Interesting..

This thread has been informative. Who ever said MYBB is just a tech site...

Spoke to GP today. He said he performed vasectomies in his rooms until about 7 years ago. Stopped because it's a mission arranging anaesthetists or something.

The fact that a GP can do it surely means it's not that complicated a procedure.

Simple procedure, they just slice open your sack, rip out your tubes, split them apart, close them off and shove it all back in before closing you up.

This ^

Its quick too - 30mins and they're done - you're usually feeling back to yourself in about 5 days (no discomfort etc) and can resume heavy lifting in about 10 days

You know... and ex-colleagues husband had the snip. And a couple months later they had a 3rd child. Possibly because he got on a bike too soon?
I chose my doc based on my bro going

Indeed, my Dr made it very clear to have myself tested before trusting the op.

i was told it can take up to 6months to clear the backlog.... ala scrum time

I'd rather divorce than get a vasectomy
It's really not that bad. It's a quick procedure and (after getting tested of course) you can fly free willy for the rest of your life. Unless you're like the poor shmuck colleague of mine that has to go for a second one now after 6+ years. He will be going soon, last kid was an oopsie 5 years after vasectomy. But the chances of that is very close to zero.

Must've gotten mine done by a vet then. Hurt like a mother for like two weeks, walked like a cowboy that barebacked a horse from JHB to CT for like a week.
Just be aware that it happens to that it hurts. I mean, I still walked out of the hospital and all that, but I definitely wasn't myself for close to two weeks.

Same with me. I was just too embarrassed to post a reply to these guys earlier :D

It seems that either you two are pussies, or you stopped at the vet for the procedure.

I would cry like @The_Donkey when he heard about the liquor ban it that were to ever happen to me.

Except some of us took our love juice to get tested for any active spermatozoa and they never got back to us. It's another person in this thread, but I'm not going to page back now.

**** me, I'm not going to hold off if I'm randy!

Well, seeing as everything was blue down there and I got a lovely infection - I'm going with the second option.

Yeah that's not the kind of thing you allow just any doctor to do. What if he cuts your thing off by accident?

Hopefully he did a paternity test....
