Contemplating a Vasectomy-any advice?

Probably for insurance purposes. I suggest finding a Dr. who has rooms at a hospital so you can get it done in a private ward.

Why do you want it done in rooms? Covid? I met my Dr. and one nurse (in the recovery room) and they were the only people I saw during the process.

Thanks. Covid is not so much an issue.

It is actually more of a timing issue. At this stage it is difficult to take a few hours off work to book into hospital or a day clinic and wait your turn for theater.

If I could make an appointment at the rooms for late one afternoon and know I have to be there at a specific time and have it done in 30min and be going home it would be golden.
Next day back at the office.

But you said yours was done quickly by nurse and doctor in the recovery room? Booked out immediately after that? That could work.

About 30 minutes in total.

I ubered home but you should be fine to drive. You'll be able to work the next day but you'll want to be sitting down, not walking around.

Sorry it is just that we are so short staffed at work at the moment due to Covid and retrenchments that I cannot be away for a whole morning.

Wife made an appointment for consultation with a doctor at the Urology Hospital anyway. So will talk to him about the actual date and time. Reception told wife they only schedule procedures for the whole of Fridays. So hopefully we can arrange the latest slot for me. And I can be back at work on Saturday.
 
I was awake when they did mine. Got out, ate bread, drank juice, got in the bakkie and drove home. Mowed the lawn, drank a beer and got a hand job from the wife.

Feels weird when they pull your tubes out of your nutsack but you are a sexy beast so shouldn't be a problem. The best thing to do is look the nurse straight in the eyes and ask her what she thinks of your sack but not while the doctor is pulling your tubes out of your sack, they laugh, the nurse laughs but not you as the doctor accidentally pulled too much of the tube out.

Out of interest, i'm not planning anything like this but based on this definition:
"Vasectomy is a surgical procedure for male sterilization or permanent contraception. During the procedure, the male vasa deferentia are cut and tied or sealed so as to prevent sperm from entering into the urethra and thereby prevent fertilization of a female through sexual intercourse. "

Where is the sperm going then?

As the doctor explained. The factory still operates as normal. They just don't ship any products. All goes into the waste bin.

The sperm stay in the testes. Where they eventually die and get absorbed by the body.

All the poor little buggers just stay there and wait to die and be absorbed.

Just like in marriage but with even less hope of achieving anything.
 
Must've gotten mine done by a vet then. Hurt like a mother for like two weeks, walked like a cowboy that barebacked a horse from JHB to CT for like a week.
Just be aware that it happens to that it hurts. I mean, I still walked out of the hospital and all that, but I definitely wasn't myself for close to two weeks.

How did you, in the end, manage to schedule an appointment, and did the time suit you? Did you have to wait all day? In hospital, or in a doctor's rooms?

Explained my scenario to the doctor. And he understood.

After consultation we went to the receptionist together and looked at theatre times. His very last slot was for 14h30 and I took that.

We then completed all the pre admission forms, anesthesiologist forms and consent forms, etc.

Then they asked I be there anything from 12h00 but no later than 13h30 on the day to get all the other admin done.

I managed to get most of my work done by 12h30 and was at the hospital and in my little theatre dress by 13h15.

Rolled into theatre at 14h40.
Woke up in recovery room at 15h30.
Back in day ward at 15h45.
Had some lunch.
Nurse checked my balls again for any excessive bleeding and discharged me.
Wife fetched me and I was home just after 17h00.
 
So glad I don’t see the need for this for the time being..

They put you under? I was awake the entire time and what made it a bit awkward was the two female nurses assisting the doctor :p
