content charge on mtn

I am not sure Malasius, but I would think MTN (or both), as MTN is the one that is billing you for a service that was never provided, or you never requested.

Thanks for the info. Will lodge a complaint against MTN

UPDATE: Have been removed from VT Mobile and have been refunded some money as the form of an airtime voucher. Problem is: I cannot load airtime vouchers on my contract...

should probably tell them that they took cash from you and not airtime .. so should refund you accordingly :) ...
but I guess it is something... my whole point of getting the refund from them is to make them jump through some hoops so that they will think twice before doingthis to me again ... and the only way to do that is to make sure it costs them money :)

Reject it. Demand CASH. You could also cite the CPA.

UPDATE: I have demanded a cash refund. I have been told that this is possible and I will be paid... but still waiting for money...

Anybody else having any luck?

Update: I have received a full cash refund now for content charges incorrectly billed!

Fantastic news, Malasius. Even if it is just R2.00, we should all DEMAND a cash refund to maximize the schlep for these darn wasps and make them pay with their precious time.

Agreed. If you keep applying pressure to these companies they will eventually pay you. I think everyone needs to do this, or you can just imagine how much money they can make when people don't bother in trying to get refunds for small amounts...

so guess what? more content charges added, anybody else having issues?

Can you elaborate on the charges and what it is for?
How do they say you subscribed?
Just shows up as a content charge with no details, they can't tell you how you subscribed or what it is for.

they can tell you what its for ... but I find that mtn call center are just too lazy too look it up ... so you have to pester them and eventually it will miraculously appear :)

Very simply then tell the call centre agent to provide a refund since "MTN does not know what it is for". Insist, politely.

will have to to keep calling and pestering them! ;)

quick question, what would happen if you pay your full bill to mtn excl the content charge?

Your line would get suspended due to not settling the full amount. They all work like that. Pay now, ask questions later.

After failing to cancel a content charge for 2 years (and I tried hard), suddenly it wasn't there anymore, on my October 2015 invoice.
:)
That made me really happy, also during Xmas. But then, boooom, there it was again on my December invoice (though maybe it is a new content charge, who knows).
So the other day, I ask at an Mtn shop, without any hope, if they could maybe help me (with cancelling).
You know what they told me? Type this *141*5# and follow the options.

I couldn't believe it ... "I don't need to call anybody!???"
Long story cut short, it actually seems to work.

By the way, I googled it ("Mtn block content charge" or similar) and after some minutes I found this, including the *141*5# code:
http://sacellularnet.co.za/2013/06/mtn-ussd-codes/

Now what makes me think (a lot), is that the above webpage was published in 2013. I actually hope that it is being edited all the time and that that Content Charge code has been added only recently. If not ... (no comment)
