Hi rodga

A proposal has been sent to the Marketing Team to advise if they can consider introducing the 20 + 20 GB or high packager and we will update you with the progress as soon as they provide one.

I'd also be interested in a Z3 Compact package.

It's awesome how TM actually listens to its customers and giving them what they want, as opposed to the others who give us what they think will be "just enough"- having their own interests in mind when making these decisions

A bad experience with Telkom lately, my Dad and I went to Telkom to check up how much longer we have on our 10gb+10gb package. While waiting in line, my Dad left to buy a bottle of water. When I got to the Telkom Mobile desk, the man helping me asked for phone number linked to the contract. I said that I didn't know, as the sim card stays in my modem. I asked if I could give him my home number, and he said no, the only way was through the sim card's number or my Dad's ID number. My Dad was back soon enough, and we got the issue sorted. What irritates me, is that the ladies who do the landline business are sitting 5 metres away. Why not asked them to validate it? Better yet, why haven't they merged the data bases yet, or is the new branding just for show?

I was very happy with 8ta/Telkom Mobile's internet package, I only hope that this isn't a case of Telkom being Telkom now.

For all he knows you could have been anyone of the street trying to get access to his account.
They obviously needed you to provide the details and then confirm you are who you say you are, not the other way round.

They didn't initially want an ID number, they wanted the cell number. Similarly, the land line side ask for your phone number.

so why didnt you give them the number?

Because I don't know the number for my data sim. That sim card is only used in my modem, I have no need to know that number. I asked if I could give him my home number, which is also with Telkom, and he said no. I had hoped that the systems were merged.

Because my ID number isn't linked to any of the accounts. They are all in my Dad's name.

I see, so you are not authorised to request any information from the accounts?
I dont blame them for not helping you - if they did, it just means its easy for anyone to get that info

They wouldn't have wanted my ID number had I known the cell number. I can request info from the land line side with only my land line number, but not from the mobile side, that is what irritates me.

If an ID number was needed, I could accept that, but that is not the case. His job is not to ask for an ID number, it is not needed to validate access to an account, if the phone number is known. I find it stupid that I can only use my land line number to access my land line account, and my data sim's number to access to data account.

Perhaps, but you came with no info on the account you wanted to query

This seems pointless, but I know the package that I am on, the address that it is linked to, the name of the person who took it out, and the other Telkom products which are also linked to that address and person. None of this was asked for though, all that he wanted was the sim's number.

I only wish that the data bases for mobile and land lines were merged, as most people wouldn't know the phone number of their data sims.

If I can validate access to a land line account with the phone number, why can't I also access the data account with that number?

You should have it on record when they gave you the contract.

You're complaining that they're treating you like an adult and should rather treat you like a child.

Apparently my request is seen as unreasonable. Let me try this again, why have the land line and mobile data bases not been merged yet, and when will this be done?

As an aside, how many people know their data sims' number off hand?

Firstly it's not that hard to get the number of the data sim, go to onnet.8ta.com

You provided no info that the consultant could help you with so stop making a storm in a tea cup.
