Cope has overtaken the DA as the official opposition in three provinces, according to the latest results from the election centre in Pretoria on Friday morning.
In two other provinces, the newly-formed party is giving the established opposition party a close run for its money.
In the Eastern Cape, where vote counting has been completed, Cope garnered 13.26% of the vote to the DA?s 10.05%.
In Limpopo, Cope leads the DA by 7.33% to 4.25%, while in Northern Cape the fledgling party has captured 15.59% of the vote to the DA's 13.26%.
In Free State and North West the DA and Cope remain neck on neck. In the Free State the DA had a lead on Cope by less than one percent - 11.91% to the DA's 11.3%.
There was a similar situation in North West, with the DA garnering 8.8% of the vote to Cope's 8.45%.
Now this is what i like to see. Some competition!
