COPE passes DA in 3 provinces!

Cope has overtaken the DA as the official opposition in three provinces, according to the latest results from the election centre in Pretoria on Friday morning.

In two other provinces, the newly-formed party is giving the established opposition party a close run for its money.

In the Eastern Cape, where vote counting has been completed, Cope garnered 13.26% of the vote to the DA?s 10.05%.

In Limpopo, Cope leads the DA by 7.33% to 4.25%, while in Northern Cape the fledgling party has captured 15.59% of the vote to the DA's 13.26%.

In Free State and North West the DA and Cope remain neck on neck. In the Free State the DA had a lead on Cope by less than one percent - 11.91% to the DA's 11.3%.

There was a similar situation in North West, with the DA garnering 8.8% of the vote to Cope's 8.45%.

Now this is what i like to see. Some competition!

If only this were the votes for the NA and the ANC completely remove from the picture.
 
I wonder if we can call for the disbanding of the ANC like they saw to it the Scorpions were disbanded. :D

But I already updated my POV in it this morning. They have really made allot of ground since yesterday morning when I created the thread :o
 
Helen Zille together with other minority leaders were rejoicing at the formation of COPE.
COPE is making them pay dearly especially the minority groups
 
De Lille, is already calling for all opposition parties to fight the ANC in the 2011 municipal elections under one banner which can only be good for South Africa imo.

Hopefully they can run a better campaign and with some voter education, the voters will learn, you can't punish the ANC for non-delivery if you vote for them AGAIN.
 
It doesn't phase me either way. I'm just happy to see some opposition in the mix.

That would be so good for this country as it would force people to be held accountable for their actions, no matter what party you are from or what colour skin you have.

This is basically what Moeletsi Mbeki said last night. The UDM and ID especially were focusing too much on Cope, and neglected their own campaign in the process.

Lets hope they put it to good use :D... joining forces with the DA it will :)
 
Honestly don't care whether the DA is the opposition in 1 or 15 provinces (including Australia, NZ, Canada etc)

The DA will run the WC. Awesome.
 
Cope can do this in a few months while the DA cannot do shyte in how many years?

I think the DA needs to relook at itself because if COPE stick around for the next one the DA will fade into nothingness. Guess DA only ever wanted the WC :p
 
COPE broke away from the ANC which is why they've had so many supporters. Just look at the provinces that COPE beat the DA, the majority of the people living in those provinces are rural.

DA still beat COPE in the main provinces (WC, KZN, GP etc)

Yup.
It means F all if they lost a bit of ground in the other provinces if the ANC have over 60% anyway...
