Corruption carnage at Kusile

Oh No meme.JPG

Kind of how most non-ANC voting South Africans feel when articles like this come up. We know it has happened, probably still does, but the masses ensure it continues by voting the corrupt into power.

I literally view the first post with a glance and already know exactly what it says.

This country is a fkn joke of Universal proportions.

Kusile might be next level wasteful expenditure, but the reality is that wherever the state contracts with BEE partners (which is the majority of their "suppliers/service providers) it is the status quo to charge 2 or 3 times the competitive market price. It is the whole strategy of BEE and its been like that for two decades.

How do you empower (enrich) black elite and cadres? You have them supply the state with whatever you used to get from a legitimate market participant, by being the middle man. Said BEE partner just sources from the same old supplier and government pays an inflated price and the difference is profit or "empowerment" to the BEE partner. With kickbacks involved and absolutely no oversight the overinflated prices just gets higher and higher. This happens at every level of government spending. Every day.

Imagine your financial position if tomorrow you had to pay double or triple for literally everything you buy. Or imagine if tomorrow everything is a third of the price it used to be and you could get back 20 years of the money you've spent paying double/triple what you should have. You could retire tomorrow!

I often think where the country would have been without BEE. Something that confuses me even more seeing all these millions just getting wasted and stolen day in day out without end, is that for a country miraculously still functioning despite this, we must have been a seriously rich country to start with. Or we must have a pretty strong economy to be able to support this without collapsing. It boggles the mind. I also dont understand the ZAR/USD rate. Seems as long as you dont appoint David van Rooyen as finance minister you can pretty much throw **** at the ZAR and it will pretty much eat it and and ask for more.

Not for much longer. Our national debt is around 80% of our GDP. It has never been this high in the history of SA. This means we have been borrowing and spending and not repaying the debt. Government bonds are junk. The State owned 'enterprises' have been bankrupted. The ANC is destroying the economy.

where do you get a R500 two seater couch, I need a few?

HAS destroyed the economy.

Exactly as predicted..

And yeah, thread about Israel Hammas war has >500 posts, this one affecting us all directly has < 30, corruption truly is only a crime in a western paradigm.

The company I work for sells rather niche products which are required by many Government faculties and SOEs. We're non-compliant for BEE and never will be (foreign owned). They therefore have to buy through these "middlemen".

What you've spoken of here barely scratches the surface.

BEE is literally government legislated corruption, on a scale very few people actually comprehend.
