Depends, on a Corsa C it should not be that much. On the Astra the cambelt has to come off so you might as well do the whole thing. Paid R10k last year when my Astra's head gasket blew after doing about 200,000km

Is it overheating in that it stays on a higher temperate and sits there for a long time? Or does it spike to a high temperature and then drop down?
Reason I ask is that on these Opels there's the obvious Thermostat but there's also a second temperate sensor in one of the coolant pipes. I've seen in the past that after the Thermostat is changes this other temperature sensor seems to lose it's mind a little and you'll often see the temperature gauge approach the 3/4 mark on the gauge before dropping down and then settling.
As long as you fan comes on (should be at about a 100 degrees) then you know the Thermostat is working and it's just this temperate sensor that is the problem.
If your fan doesn't come on at all then they might have put a dodgy thermostat in.
I'm actually of the opinion that out of the box the Opels aren't too temperature sensitive and that's why we all have a panic about the temp gauge after a job like this because all of a sudden it's working properly.
Between my Opel Corsa and my Golf GTi the temperate range is ridiculously small on the Opel so I'm not surprised that the gauge appears a bit lively.

Yup R3500 sounds a whole lot more reasonable.
I recall it being even less on my Opel Corsa.
hi im christo i have a corsa 1.3 petrol bakkie that i bought the bakkie did not have sparks i replace new sensor and new computerboks when i turn the key it give 3 sparks on the plug and then nothing what can it be please help

Agree with Sinbad. Remember on the Corsa there is a transponder chip in the key that the ignition barrel reads (RFID) and sends to the ECU (komputahbox). If the ID the ECU expects does not match the key... no dice.
On old Corsas it's best to go with aftermarket ECU products like those from GoTech.
