Cost to switch back to telkom ADSL from ISP

I just found out there is cost to switch back the ADSL line rental to Telkom... Who warned me? Not the last ISP I was with when I wanted to discontinue their services.

Apparently there is charged. Does not matter that no one came out to my house at all.
And not a small one either... Something like R618.60...

I phoned them last week and was basically was told its because I moved back to them...
Then I filed the Dispute and it was Rejected...

I've notified the ISP where I was about this, but don't have must faith anything would happen from there. Not that it is really their fault/problem.

When you read migrate you must read cancel. Be very sure that you're happy with the ISP you're getting in the sack with.
 
Got it fixed...

Seems Telkom charged me an installation fee when I switched back to them from the ISP.
1. Phoned there famous help line and was told it’s because I switched.
2. Filed a Dispute and it was rejected.
3. Went to a Telkom shop and they fixed it, after checking on their system and phoning.

There is now a credit note that would come through next month...
 
So are we now 100% sure there is no charge to migrate back to telkom for your line?
What about moving from say Mweb controlling the line to say Afrihost... What happens there?

It goes back to Telkom then to the next ISP. There is no charge for line migration.
 
According to what the guy from Telkom told me... There is no cost for switching.
They charged me an instalation fee, but I had ADSL already installed. It was not a new installation.
It took me 3 diffrent routes of communication before it got sorted out.

Even if they where to charge a fee. It can't justify it be even close to R618. It's just a billing switch on the system.

Just remember, and this part I knew and was aspecting. ISP's charge line rental for the month coming. Telkom change for the previous month.
In other words, moving from and ISP to Telkom, you going to skip a month line rental.
Moving from Telkom to ISP, you going to pay double line rental.

As for switching between ISPs... I suspect you would have to speek to them. Think it should also be a no cost.

The ISP you were with ****ed up the transfer. There's no cost in migrating, just a pain in the ass.

I prefer to keep my line with Telkom because with 1 phone call I can upgrade or downgrade in a matter of minutes, whereas my previous ISP (Web Africa) I had to wait the full 21 days and got told it would only be 21 days more because they send these requests in batches to telkom on the last wednesday of the month or some **** like that.
