I get up to 7mbs and I'm always on edge.Never saw the 3g on the cellc browser. What does that mean?

Not looking good. I can see the tower out the window but can only get EDGE.

I got my CellC modem yesterday and the speeds have been fantastic ... until around 14:30 today.

The 3G signal has disappeared and I am stuck with EDGE!!

Anyone else in this area having the same problem?

I have given up trying to get through to the Call Centre.

:(

Still stuck on EDGE!!

If I stick my old VC SIM into the E1820, I get 3G speeds of around 7 Mbps, so the modem must be okay.

Can a faulty SIM cause this? Or is it a faulty base station?

I managed (after 20 minutes!) to log a fault and I have a reference number. I also sent an e-mail to their customer care.

I have had no feedback, whatsoever. Extremely disappointed in and frustrated with Cell C's service!

As someone once remarked "I can't complain about the service. There is no service!"

Yeah I've sent a few queries with no response from them. Not to a single one.

With the Cell C sim do you get any WCDMA signal if you force "3G only" from MDMA or "WCDMA Only" with the dash fix?

I do get a good signal, but as soon as I try to connect, the signal drops to -112 dBm and I get a connect error ... I think it is 628?

I am taking the modem and card to the dealer in the morning. Hopefully it can be sorted. If not, it must surely be the base station?

over -100dBm i can't even log on so maybe thats why

And if you go offshore about 50m ?

Chances are I would be surfing at Long Beach then, in which case I'd swap my speed stick for a surf board and trade my lack of swoooosh for a cold splooooosh.

Good day,

I'm located in North West, Rustenburg.
Does anyone know when 4G 21.6mbps will be available here?
I'd like to buy the 60Gb package.

All the best,
Antonie

Antonie,

Try to get get hold of Cell C in the Waterfall Mall. They will put you on a waiting list and contact you when Rtb 4G will be launched. According to the lady i spoke with, + - 1 to 2 weeks.

Around a MONTH ago my SO & I went to that very store and the [-]lying swine[/-] Northwest rep (his claim) told my SO & I that the Northwest province has to back Pretoria up and would be online when Gauteng launched; personally I'm more inclined to invest in salt mine shares than believe what you hear from them there ..but I may be just a wee bit cynical.

Yes that's what the Rustenburg shop is telling (potential) customers: one to two weeks. However this is the same staff that insisted the 2GB monthly on the data promotion would roll over for three months, which is patently untrue according to everything else Cell C has said, so it should be taken with several cellars of salt.

What I can say is that if you are outside Rustenburg and trying Cell C data you may be in for a disappointment. I can barely get on at GPRS speed at Buffelspoort Dam.

Cell C reception in Centurion

I have been running CellC since Oct brilliantly in Centurion. I've barely had any connection since yesterday. Anybody else with issues in Lyttelton, Centurion?

Cell C HSDPA is in Stellenbosch

Not sure if this is old news but today when I switched on my 5800 with a Cell C SIM in it had full signal on 3.5G (HSDPA). This was a prepaid SIM. I double check on my wife's N79 with a contract SIM and it really does seem that Cell C has very strong HSDPA coverage in Stellenbosch.

To be honest, I have not used mobile data since 3 years ago so I have no idea how fast it will be. The only devices I have to test it with is a 1.8mbps 5800 and a 3.6mbps N79.
I do still use 2G modems but that is for SMS, not data.
