Can anyone tell me the status in Silverton pretoria, I have a vodafone k3565-z but will probably be using a nokia e63 i'll be buying since it can tether. Also what's the dial-up details for cell c, MTN it's *99#

Thanks

Yes, *99#, apn: internet. Just make sure that whatever device you decide to connect with is UMTS 900 capable (don't know the abovementioned devices offhand), otherwise you will be stuck on EDGE.

Cell C Reception in Panorama

I took the risk today to acquire the 2G/month speedstick. The salesperson at N1 City indicated that there should be no reception problems in Panorama (I am near the Medi-Clinic). He also indicated that the average download speed would be 5Mbps. So far my max has been 1.92 Mbps with a range between 400 and 800 kbps. Any other residents' experiences in this regard?

Thanks, it seems both the k3565-z and nokia e63 support the bands. Time to break free from vodacom and Mtn's crazy prices.

I am in Honeydew Ridge. Is the Panorama tower switched on yet? I know that the tower at The Ridge Shopping Centre is not on yet.
I get signal from far away. Work ok but could be better.

I am just behind Panorama Primary (close to the corner of Cornelius and Toy) and am in a dead zone - barely getting EDGE. Hoping that the 2nd phase of roll-out will bring the Woosh to my house!

OKAY to Conlude all the s**t that I've been having with coverage in my f***n area...

Anyways..

The guy from the coverage department at Cell C just called me and said NO THEY DON'T HAVE COVERAGE in my AREA!!!! WHY THE F***K IS IT BEING ADVERTISED THAT THERE ARE COVERAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm gonna call customer care tonight and demand that this contract be canceled.. A contract is an agreement between 2 parties.. one supplies.. and one pays.. BUT if the one doesn't supply at all! and advertise incorrect information to all their clients! they are BREAKING that contract! and in fact there should be a penalty being paid to ME! because of all the damn inconvenience this has caused me! I'm not paying a cent for this BULL****!

Input from members in Port Elizabeth

:confused:Hi all in PE.
I live in Broadwood and have a friend in Summerstrand, we are both interested in Cell C 3G. I would appreciate if anyone in this town will PM me with their experiences of using this service.

Thanks.:)

Ok. Talked to customer care and I can cancel tomorrow at no charge at all..

Will see what happens.

Have you cancelled the contract? If not, Have you tried all different options to get signal? I have posted here that I had exactly the same problem. When I had my dongle directly connected to my port, I only had 2g, Edge coverage. They also came out to my area and said, sorry broer, no 3g for you! But then I got a Usb extention cable and connect to the dongle, hanging out through the window. And warraaah! 3g connection! First I got 1.2Mbps to 1.5Mbps the first day. Second day, 2Mbps. This morning, 3Mbps. And yes, the speed does change allot, up and down all the time. I hope you come right.

I've driven from the East of Pretoria to the West of Pretoria while monitoring the signal. At about 10km from my house the signal drops to -100dBm average. Since it did pick it up in the East and nothing in the West I knew something must be wrong with their coverage. I've tried ALOT of things and this test basically revealed to me that the most of West Pretoria isn't covered at all..

I'm finished with Cell C. NO more tests coming from my side anymore! I've had it with them and their bad freakin service! Anyways.. good luck to everyone.. I'm giving mine back later today.

You are using a laptop. Then there must be a problem with the coverage in your area. It's a pitty that Cell C can't give a date when they'll put up more towers in the JHB and PTA area's. Allot of area's in JHB are not covered! Let's hope that if they do have towers up in your area, the promotion is still on.

Constantia Kloof.

Has anyone had any experience with regards to coverage in this area?

Tested in Brakpan North - Nothing at all can't even connect. Also tested Mondeor and get terrible speeds and signal. Just a heads up for anyone looking in those areas.

What a crap network

Just got my "4G" 5GB stick yesterday and I'm devastated not only by the service that I got but also the crap network that I've joined for 12 months. This is absolutely terrible. Not only is the speed insanely slow but I can't access anything. I'm living in the Centurion area and the Cell C consultant told me that the speed should be fast. I'm going to discourage other people from using this network as they are only telling lies and fooling people in buying their product.

Well if I was going to spend R3000 on wireless internet, I would test the network 1st and only then invest money. Blaming the consultant that sold you the device is wrong. they will tell you anything to make the sale. YOU should have checked 1st before leaping.

On the other hand I am sorry to hear about your problem. :D

It's a "crap network" in your location. Working perfectly for me down here in Cape Town. Confirm for yourself that the coverage map lists you as covered. If not go back to the shop and ask for a refund. If it does then log a fault via Tell Trevor or [email protected], Cell C will send people out to test the signal.

I am also in Centurion - have been on CellC since October and as happy as a pig in ..... However, the network seems to be down at the moment. Has only happened once before. Give it some time and then check again.
