Well I was really hoping that we would get a lead in excess of 200. Seems we would be lucky to get a lead of 100 even. I hope that Boucher and Prince can both make centuries or high scoring fifties.

Welcome back, would still like for you to show me what I posted that justified you telling me to "grow up ffs" and asking me what I am smoking.

Well, need another 75 to get to 100 lead, should have that if we stick around till lunch time.

I am in no mood to argue/debate. I simply don't have the energy to go back and forth. Let's just forget about that and discuss in cricket in a civilised manner. Else we will be arguing all day who we thought was wrong and it's rather senseless.

Dont want to argue/debate at all. I was discussing cricket in a civilised manner when the next moment I saw a post from you asking me wtf I am smoking and telling me to "grow up ffs". There was no discussion of right or wrong either, all I did was post the score for the warm up game. And the next thing I saw was (in my opinion) an attack from you, which I could find no reason for.

But ok then.

I dont think the sightscreen issues could have been that bad.
Seems like the sight screen coupled with the ailing light and tall fast bowlers was causing the SA batsman a bit of consternation. In a sense I hope they don't sort the problem out before the close of play today as Morne could very well be on from that end early this evening bowling to Englands middle order which could prove more than a handful for them...

+1
But 1st we need those 100 + runs.

It won't affect Prince or Morkel when they bat.

Well... I apologise for my outburst.

damn, I was looking for a fight! :p:D

just joking.

anyway, first session today can decide our series I reckon. I think Prince/Boucher/Morkel and Nel can scrap out 75 runs between them, and 100+ lead should take the game out of reach for England.

Yesterday was some brilliant test cricket and just shows that test cricket is far from dead.

Funny how the English press was kicking their team after day one and then do a 360 on day two. Still the same team!!

which two wickets did we lose?

The windows were there the whole day, no like someone went and painted them black during the tea break.

We all know weather conditions change, the angle of the sun changes, the height and angle of run of the bowler changes. It just so happened that all these conditions resulted in our guys not being able to pick up the ball. The sight screens are meant to prevent this from happening but they weren't so it is a problem.

As for the two wickets, Kallis was a definate one and then I stated perhaps a second as I feel De Villers would in all likelihood not have tried to break the shackles that were being put on by playing that shot if what was happening around him had not happened.

Yip, first session is crucial. If England knock us over quickly, not only will be basically have no lead, but England will have the momentum. Plus, chances are we are gonna bat last on this pitch(unless something dramatic happens) and so we need to be chasing as little as possible.

Something else, with Nel taking wickets in the game, do you drop him for Steyn in the fourth test? or someone else?

I will dare to commit to a prediction, but I envisage two single digit scores for Prince in the next test, regardless of what he says about form...

:D prediction... wrong!

Lets hope Prince can continue to serve up some humble pie to DJK :p

I'm thinking we'll end up with a lead between 125-150 if all goes well, at least that's what I hope for. We should be able to take England out but I think we are still going to have to come in and bat and maybe have to make 200 runs on a deteriorating pitch.

As for the next test I really think they should consider giving either Ntini or Morkel a rest and bowl Nel and Steyn in tandom.

Well it all depends on our lead. If we get around 100, I don't think we will be chasing more than 150 for victory.

So you are predicting a score of between 325 and 350 by England in the second innings? That is going to take some doing by them!!

Out of interest the average innings scores at Edgbaston since 1902

1st 314
2nd 313
3rd 233
4th 152 ....but bear in mind that last innings figure may be affected by runs needed to win the match...

So according to averages this has been a low scoring game so far so for England to get 300+ in the 3rd innings seems highly unlikely.
