The commentators mentioned today how the speed gun generally measured speeds
It measures how long it takes the ball to pass through about a metre of space just after the bowler releases the ball, and that bouncers show as slower due to them being bowled at a more downward/diagonal angle which takes longer to pass through that metre, while full balls show as quicker
That's totally incorrect. In actual fact, no bowler has really bowled the speeds as they indicate today. Although I have seen a 151kph full length Brett Lee delivery once.
The explanation makes sense to me. Aktah's 160km/h ball was a low full toss. That's totally incorrect. In actual fact, no bowler has really bowled the speeds as they indicate today. Although I have seen a 151kph full length Brett Lee delivery once.

We would expect bouncers to have a lower speed anyway, regardless of the method of measurement used because once the ball hits the pitch, it loses pace.
Anyone notice that when we needed 98 to win they put "RSA WIN!" under the score, obviously preparing for it
We so close now, I can taste it
I love listening to the channel 9 commentators when we doing well, showing all sorts of old scorecards of collapses![]()
