Cricket: Test Cricket

It's unfortunately never been allowed. Probably because they could get a sub that's better than the rh player (although in this case it would be hard) which would make the game unfair... but at the end of the day a rh player isn't exactly a good thing for us... :(

We will be playing hard for at least a draw here, we can at least try to keep up the good work.
strategically it won't work. for example, in this test a left hand batsman has a disadvantage of facing more balls that will hit those long big cracks, so it would be easy to feign injury and replace the top left hand batsman with another right hand batsman. it can also give a side the opportunity to keep an extra batsman around and dump one of the bowlers when batting, so that's not a good thing.

Australia 33/0 @ stumps. Australia lead by 151 runs with 10 wickets in hand

ML Hayden 18* (23b 3x4), SM Katich 9* (12b 2x4)

For a pitch to be behaving like that on day 3 makes me wonder if we can get any target, be it low or high, batting last. :(

You obviously have not been following the match well.

Obviously you haven't....

250 will set SA a target of 368. That will be a very tough ask of SA (that pitch on day 5 will be mostly unplayable and probably downright dangerous) And it makes sense in terms of time as well. If Aus can get 250 by tea tomorrow, then it will definitely be worth their while to declare.

You really think AUS will risk that total after SA chased down 400 with ease before?

It's not a question of what they're prepared to risk - it's what they'll be able to achieve on a rapidly deteriorating pitch.

If we can at least bat out our innings, that'd be great. Considering that the pitch is already acting up. 2-0 is better than 2-1 I guess.

AUS are going at 6 to the over ATM. Pitch seems just fine.

No hayden could have been out to a ball that kept low. Besides they used the heavy roller which will flatten the pitch out for about 6-8 overs. Besides when your 100 in front you can take risks hence why Hayden has flashed at everything.
