The umpire's word should be law.

The English are being really stupid with their referrals, referring when they really really need a wicket, rather than when there is an genuine chance of an umpire error. Powell was unlucky with his referral at the end of the WI innings.

And what was Broad's problem yesterday? A straight-forward catch at silly mid-on, and Broad hangs around waiting for the referral before eventually dragging himself off the field.
