Ponting is a good player, but poor tactical captain and poor leader and bloody well sulks all the time.
Worst captain in a while. Maybe the first one in a long time not to be Aussie of the Year after he retires*

* For some reason Aussie cricket captain is a job even the ex Pm wishes he had instead and much revered...always guarranteed a Aussie of Yr at some stage over even world leading scientists etc.

What? Ponting lead them to 2 worldcup victories and a managed a test side that dominated world cricket? Sure he took over from Waugh but his still my number one pic as a captain.

I am not sure about that ozzie, ricky has the unfortunate task of captaining the Aussies in a time of talent crisis and has been a great captain for many years but he has major talent problems too contend with.

Had he had the talent of the old aussies at his disposal they would be mauling everyone as usual. You can be the best captain in the history of cricket but if you don't have the talent too back it up you will fail.
