According to Cricinfo's player stats page, she hasn't played since the last match of the Womens IPL in March. That's a good three months away from cricket, so certainly some rust possible. Not sure what her itinerary is looking like for the upcoming months, but hopefully she regains her form. I see as well that she is pushing 36, so I wonder how much longer the motivation and desire will still burn.

PROTEAS WOMEN GEAR UP FOR CRICKET WORLD CUP WITH NATIONAL TRAINING CAMP IN DURBAN

DURBAN: An extended Proteas Women squad has assembled for a national training camp in Durban from 25 August - 01 September in preparation for the upcoming Pakistan tour and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 held in India and Sri Lanka.
Following the camp, the team will travel to Lahore for a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan from 16 - 22 September, before heading to India for the start of the 50-over World Cup, scheduled between 30 September - 02 November.
The 20-player training camp squad includes players from the recent West Indies tour, with the exception of captain Laura Wolvaardt and all-rounders Chloé Tryon and Marizanne Kapp, who are currently competing in The Hundred.
Also named in the squad are the World Sports Betting Western Province pair of Lara Goodall and Faye Tunnicliffe, in addition to Fidelity Titans’ Eliz-Mari Marx and Seshnie Naidu from the Hollywoodbets Dolphins.
The group also features one uncapped player in all-rounder Luyanda Nzuza, who represented the SA U19 Women at this year’s ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Dané van Niekerk has officially revoked her retirement from international cricket and has been invited to form part of the extended training camp squad after her return to domestic cricket for Western Province during the 2024-25 season.
The final squads for the Pakistan tour and the 50-over World Cup will be announced in the first week of September.
Proteas Women head coach, Mandla Mashimbyi, commented:
“It’s a very exciting time to be part of this group as we build towards the World Cup. The players have put in a huge amount of work over the past few months to be ready for that first ball against England in India.
“This camp in Durban will be crucial in helping us finalise a few key areas of our preparation, making sure we tick every box before we board the plane as a united force. The series in Pakistan will also serve as an important measure of where we are as a team ahead of the tournament, and we’re looking forward to putting our best foot forward in those three ODIs.
“In terms of the players involved in the camp, we’ve worked hard to ensure we have the right balance and skillset needed for a successful World Cup. We’ve also brought in the likes of Luyanda and Dané to take a closer look at what they can contribute to the group in the near future.”

JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) is delighted to name the Proteas Women squad that will represent our proud nation at the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, taking place from 30 September - 02 November in India.
The 15-player squad will be captained by Laura Wolvaardt, and includes the experienced quartet of Chloé Tryon, Marizanne Kapp, Ayabonga Khaka and Suné Luus.
The group will also be strengthened by the inclusion of explosive batter Tazmin Brits, along with all-rounders Nadine de Klerk, Anneke Bosch, Annerie Dercksen, and Nondumiso Shangase.
In the wicketkeeping department, Sinalo Jafta will team up with 17-year-old and domestic cricket teammate Karabo Meso, who is taking part in her first senior World Cup after competing in two ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cups in 2023 and 2025.
In the bowling ranks, left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba leads the spin attack while Masabata Klaas and Tumi Sekhukhune offer varying seam options.
Young all-rounder Miané Smit has been named as the travelling reserve, a role she performed during last year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
The Proteas Women will get their tournament underway with a tie against England on 03 October, followed by encounters against New Zealand, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan before concluding the league phase with a contest against Australia on 25 October.
Ahead of the global showpiece, South Africa will tour Pakistan for three One-Day Internationals on 16, 19 and 22 September in Lahore.

From the moment I joined this team, and even before my time when the squad went through the qualification phase, it was all about working towards this moment. So I don't see Dane's name here but it is in post 2466 under the squad for the Pakistan tour. Is that just a clerical error or has she been omitted from the squad for Pakistan?

Was to be expected in any case. Reversal should've been done last year already to be in contention for this one. Still hoping to see her back in the squad after the WC

Sure enough... but you can't expect to reverse your decision and suddenly be in the squad for the WC. She didn't do herself any favours there (retiring), irrespective of the reasons. That team has not been selected yesterday. To be honest, except for Jafta, that's a pretty fair team selected. The only one she could probably replace in the top 5 might be Sune, and that's not going to happen easily. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Dane back in the team.....
