Yowser, those stats are really alarming. 
Just had a quick look at the England/Wales stats, but they are so detailed compared to these, I don't have the time:-

One quick one, rape is about 1/5th of SA.
Other things at first glance aren't that different, such as common assault, but things like heists and carjackings are a tiny fraction of what SA is experiencing.
Then again, this is police state UK

One thing I've noted again, don't care if it pisses anyone off, is just how crap SA gov websites are - totally and utterly 3rd world, it's shameful.
Have a look at that police site, take a look at how completely pathetic the crime stats are, witness the disclaimer at the bottom about ie4 and 800x600 - bleh.
Just shows how crap the SA police really are.
To compare apples with apples, I don't think something like this exists in South Africa:-
