Cryptocurrency Mining

End of SIA GPU mining coming. Bitmain released their 850GHz blake2b ASIC today - the Antminer A3. Delivery in 10 days for today's order. That's going to kill the competition. Sorry for the Obelisk buyers who will still be waiting months for what is now an underpowered machine. :/

yeah crazy those machines only shipping in AUG.

Yeah sia was sometimes nice to mine as 2nd coin.

Time to buy SIA? Could see a spike in profits.

Ok thanks guys but would it be preferable to get the molex or the 6 pin ? or doesn't it really matter

I'd expect the opposite, these new ASICS are the equivalent of roughly 400 GTX1070's for the price of about 6, supply is going to skyrocket

why would supply skyrocket though? network difficulty will go up, coin supply should be pretty independent of hashing power

Advice needed on the noise levels of a rig

Advice needed please; I am wondering about the noise levels of a (6) gpu rig? Where do you place your rig not to keep you awake at night?

Ok so the time has come to build the rig now. Do I just install 1 gpu then install windows. After install do I then connect all GPU’s or first change bios settings then install GPU’s?

Any other software I should have installed?

Silly question... With all the upheaval around mining in China, what kind of effect might this have on mining for the rest of the world?

None. Miners will just relocate. Bitmain is already one of many talking with Hydro-Quebec. In fact Hydro-Quebec is wanting to bring in large mining farms.

They have a current surplus of 5000MW and if they can't find consumers for it, they will have to increases prices which is currently between $0.05 and $0.07 / kWh

I decided I want to start mining too late. It is next to impossible to find gpu's at the moment. I might be able to get some 1060's 6 GB. are the MSI Armor versions really so bad with cooling?

It's not that bad, gtx 1060 runs cool anyway.

IS a !070 that much better for mining? what I'm getting at is it more efficient enough to make up the price difference of a GTX 1060

You will need to check for each coin but if they all equal outputs, using equihash 1060 is ~3h/s per W and a 1070 3.5h/s per W so 16% better +-

Maybe this is a silly question - but has anyone tried mining using virtual cloud servers ?

I mine on 2 x Azure VM's with 2 core CPUs and I get about 60h/s per server mining Monero.
It is not worth it but mine is free so I let it run.
