Crysis 2 Official Thread

Well the single play on Crysis was absolutely epic, so for R300 if single play in 2 is as good, then win - win... thats R200 cheaper than BLOPS. So I think worth it = YES ;)

Valid point - what about Homefront? It is getting great reviews...

Maybe I should hold out until April before I decide...

This first round of reviews all gave Homefront 85+/100. If you check the comments at the IGN review, you'll see everyone attacking the reviewer for a shoddy review. He also managed to freeze up his console while reviewing the PC version, From the IGN PC review site, which is quite hilarious:
“The single-player game never froze on me and barely stuttered, but online locked-up on me multiple times, forcing me to hard restart my console”

Clearly just a copy paste job from the Xbox review. Where ever Homefront scored bad in review, it was because of a short 5 hour campaign. I finished the last 4 COD's all in about 5 hours and yet they all managed to score high in reviews. Homefront also got shoddy scoring for graphics although it's being reviewed on low-res,DX9 console instead of 1080P,DX11 PC graphics. Blops scored high and it's still using the same graphic engine for the last 4 years now. The general consensus of all the reviews are that multiplayer is epic fun.

I've learned now that all reviews (opinions) are biased or bought in some way or another.(See latest article on Mygaming about DA2 develop being busted for rating their own game on Metacritic) I've seen a lot the YouTube clips of Homefront's multiplayer gameplay footage and it looks like epic fun. I've played Crysis 2 multiplayer and was a bit disappointed. I'm buying Homefront for the multiplayer, I don't actually care how long the campaign is, so Homefront will definitely be getting my money.

And regarding the gameradar review:

Thanks largely to all the cool stuff you can play around with, Homefront’s multiplayer is instantly fun, rewarding and varied, and only becomes more so as you unlock new stuff. It looks about as dated and unpolished as the campaign does, but there are few sensations quite as fun as crouching in a dark corner and surprising enemies halfway across the map with a well-placed drone.
Multiplayer Verdict: 8/10 (“Great”)

If, on the other hand, you’re buying Homefront for the multiplayer, then you’re in for a treat. It’s not a particularly good-looking treat, but it’s an enjoyable one, and it’s got enough depth and room for advancement to keep players hooked for a while. If there’s a good reason to pick up Homefront, it’s the multiplayer.

lol ... dice almost never disappoint but gotta give the others a chance 2 :}

All the Battlefield games had a poor hit register, and to play the game on a not so good connection was torture, right through from 1942 to Bad Company 2, ask me, I know. Medal of Honor's multiplayer was a little better with regards to that though.

But back to the topic. Crysis 2 looks pretty cool, nice graphics, smooth gameplay and not the clumsy feeling I had with the first Crysis. While there are complaints about the DirectX issue and the only 12 player multiplayer, I don't see it as such a big issue. The demo looked pretty on my PC and it ran smoothly. Depending on the other maps, I have to say 12 players will be fine for the size of the maps.

Aside from the login problem, I couldn't pick up anything else that bugged me.
I am really looking forward to this.

The reviews are out, most are saying its the action game of the year so far. IGN says its the best looking PC game ever. Suppose I'll have to buy it now and see.

I bought my copy in CNA today..... Unfortunately on installation the game tells me that I can only register and play the game after 10pm on 24 March 2011. How can these guys release the game in shops, but you can only start playing a couple of days later! Maak my de moer in.... I am actually contemplating looking on the net for a crack untill I am able to play the game legally (and I have legally purchased the game!!)

The shop is to blame for breaking the street date to gain an advantage on competitors. This is one of the reasons why a lot of games have an activation date these days.
