Crysis Rapes my machine

is it just me or is anyone else expecting one of those Mastercard "Priceless" jokes? :p

Intel E6300 @ 1.86Ghz
2Gb Team Elite DDR2 5-5-5-15
8800GTS 320MB

1680x1050

1xEdge AA
Most at high with shaders and shadows on medium .

I get 20 - 25 FPS dropping to 10 - 15 and maxing at 40.

Whats nice about Crysis is how smooth it plays out at low FPS, it will feel like 30 FPS at 20 FPS but it gets noticeable under 15.

Some tweaks I have running:
- "+e_particles_thread 1" (This should be used only on dual core machines, as far as I know Crysis doesn't fully support Quad cores)
- "+r_GeomInstancing 1" (I tried this one out and got a slight bump in FPS, not sure exactly what it does but there is no visual difference)
- "+r_HDRRendering 1" (Since my shaders are at medium I think it disables HDR and I don't want that, so this forces HDR)

I entered these in the shortcut command line, just right-click the shortcut and after the text in "Target" Enter these commands and they should work.

Crysis is an excellent game and there are tweaks to get it to run on older systems nicely, like reducing shadow resolution. Hopefully the patch will bring about some nice performance increases.

There is also a major problem with artifacts and graphical anomalies in the game if you run it with settings beyond what your system can handle. These I think are caused by insufficient video memory on your graphics card. Crysis is very intensive in that area so I'd recommend not enabling AA but rather using edge AA which is enabled by default at medium or forced by a command. AA also doesn't seem to affect the foliage in the game, might be Crytek doing so because its such an intensive game. With a card like mine with 320MB its seems fine at 1680x1050 with few anomalies.

Hope this helps, awesome game! :D

AMD X2 4400+
1gb mushkin DDR400 @ 2-2-2 1T

1280x1024

All on LOW

Didn't measure FPS but was playable, only just...

Cpu is not going to help you much in Crysis if you're GPU bound. On an 8800GT/GTS/GTX you're GPU bound if you play even 1280x1024 "Very High" Its actually unplayable (to me 35fps average is playable)
So if you use any of these cards, going from dual core to quad core will not help, that's not where the bottleneck is.
I barely managed to play very high at 1280x1024 on a QX9650 @ 3.6Ghz with 2GB RAM and 8800GT clocked 720MHz/1GHz. I ended up turning it back to high again.

For this games SLI will do you well if you want to run Very High, :) or you could use the upcoming 8800GTS that should play Very High quiet well.

I’m not sure what’s going on here, but I have real decent machine, 2 gig ram sata2 hdd, 8800gts 640meg real good MOB, and a Core 2 duo 2.4ghz processor, but for some reason I can only run the game on low to medium settings, it can go on max but then it starts to lag and do funky stuff.

I heard that some guys had new drivers for the Cards installed to which I done, but still nothing, some other forum I read reckons he installed drivers for his Core2 processor, is that even possible.

Please help I really want to play this game and kind of depressed that my machine can’t handle it,

Thanks:(:sick::D

get sli bro.... 2x 8800GTS

This thread has me very depressed looking at all the specs. My poor baby is a mere:

P4 2.66GHz
1GB RAM
7800GS AGP

There is hope though. The future holds:
C2Q Q6600
2GB
8800GTX

ur not the only one except that I have 7600GT

1024*768 ... Everything on low
Game runs fine, looks pretty decent.

Its running at a stable 50 - 60 FPS here though its the demo so don't know if it makes a diffrence

Settings - Very High
System Specs:

Processor: Q6600 2.4GHZ Intel Core 2 Quad
Graphics Card: Gainward Bliss 8800GTX
RAM: OCZ Reaper 4GB DDR2-1000MHZ
Motherboard: N68S7AA-8EKRS2H FOX NVIDIA nForce 680i
Mouse: Logitech G5
Keyboard: Razor Teranchla
Hard Drive: Raptor-X 150GB Sata 2 , 10,000RPM

Running XP SP 2 with all new updates including Display Drivers

Athlon 64 bit 2800+ 1.8ghz, Radeon 9550 256mb, 1gb ram.
Plays Crysis on low without problems

Dude! Go for it!!!!
I still have an AMD 3400+ (Socket 754!!!) 2GB RAM (DDR400!!!) And the Gainwards 7800GTS 512MB!!!

Oh well... BTW! I run all other games at max! COD4, Bioshock, NFS Pro Street...

I can't run those games at medium even. I run COD4 at 800x600 and it can just just cope.

I have:

AMD 3400+
1.25GB RAM (DDR400)
7300GT 256MB (AGP)

What's the problem? Crysis runs at like 5fps with everything on low. Should I get a new graphics card? Can one still get AGP?

Thanks
56kMan

56Kman - earlier this year I got a 7800GS AGP. Not sure if it would offer much of an improvement though.

Running nicely on medium settings . It looks so good on medium, i don't think i can possible see or notice more detail...i will need a super huge plasma screen for that. So i'm sticking to medium, i ran Bioshock right afterwards and was "shocked" how amazing Crysis graphics really are....

The only amusing slowdown i have is when the game starts and those logos pop up, my "Nvidia..how it's meant to be played" is lagging extremely , [i have an ATi card]

My setup

2.33 Ghz Core Duo
2GB Ram
ATi Radeon HD3850
Windows XP DX 9

Ive got a friend also complaining about the lagging logos :p

Nvidia must rly hate ATI and are trying to spike their users in that subtle way

At a wild guess I would say. Software.
If your hardware is adequate it must be software.

You are sure you have the best drivers? Yes.

Then the next best place to look is security software. Some software sets up roadblocks or traps to first check your moving data before it approves of it.
I solved this problem many times for clients. By uninstalling HEAVY anti virus and anti spy adware packages and putting lighter ones on.

The lightest most effective is AVG from Grisoft.com. I run the free version and I have no problems with virusses or spyware.I get the odd one now and again but they always get caught.

Sometimes residual software from old uninstalled anti virus packages also slow your machine down.

Hope it helps. PM me if it did, I need a noddy badge:D
They thrashed me with Basketball at the beta test games.
