Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

This just in... Open Serve wants me to fork out 3 barr before that will allow me to migrate the 5 DSL lines that we have.
is this going to apply to all of us as well? seeing as CW has not billed us for line rental for the last 2 months...or so...?

I assume so yes. I was expexting something like this...You may get a discount on the voice portion of your account for a few days downtime. Mine should be ADSL line rental for October and November...

Hi - Your ADSL line order has been rejected by Telkom, due to a pending order on the line on their system. Please urgently contact Telkom on 10210 or visit a Telkom Direct store and enquire as to when the pending order will be complete. Regards, Afrihost

Lol sigh... So i have a pending order with Telkom.
I had the same message; but according to Telkom there was no pending order. Called Telkom Sales applied for a new line; for some reason it was working again 10 minutes later. But now 1 day later also phoneline dead; but Telkom technician just called and will be here in an hour!

Telkom told me there is no order too, but there has been a process activated to convert the ADSL line into a normal line.

Well that's promising. I'm still waiting for Telkom to finish the ADSL activation on my line. Apparently it's in the "final stages" now, whatever that means. Although they also said a technician is at the Exchange to do it, which I don't quite understand since the damn line is already plugged into the DSLAM.

This is how I understand everything.

Telephone lines will be terminated by Telkom but they will still be billed for until the debt is recovered.
Client cannot order a new service until the debt is recovered.

I have managed to retain just 5 users. 2 of which are taking LTE form me. 1 is taking Vuma from me, the other two are myself and my other senior business partner. We are working on a solution for ourselves.

But effectively our client's are being held to ransom.

Truly a mess.
My view stands. NEVER get someone to pay for a service on your behalf. You lose control and when things go wrong, you end up with the problem.
Had those ADSL "lines" been on an account you have with Telkom direct, all you would have lost in this mess would have been The ISP services (maybe). Evonet/CW appear to have so careless that I doubt you would have been cut off.

All this process highlights is that transferring ADSL "lines" to and ISP, increase their cash flows, and opens the door for unscrupulous companies to run off with the funds, leaving you with the effort to recover.
BTW for us old fashioned plebs, what does "barr" mean? R3; R30, R300, R 3000, R 3 000 000?

A Barr is 1 million dollars * holds pinky to bottom lip as colleagues burst out laughing *

Actually Paul Hjul, the only remaining person at CW (it would seem), has been very open and responsive with us regarding everything. He is also now sitting in a very uncomfortable situation as a result of all this and I wouldn't be surprised if he takes legal action against EN.

I do see your logic in the whole ADSL Line to ISP thing, and it is something we will never offer again.

I have no idea what you are talking about>? VDSL?

How do i check? and how do i fix?
What line data rate packages did you have before? If 10 or 20Mb/s, then Openserve use two technologies in the network.

ADSL 2+ and VDSL
