Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

Speeds from speedtests seem to be fluctuating. Netflix has been running fine, I guess it gets priority on the network. Streaming from other sources like Reddit is choppy though.

Wasn't aware there was any "work" being done or an outage till I checked here. For the most part, the internet's okay here in Cape Town, for me at least.

@CrystalWeb, good luck sorting out whatever issues you're having :). And keep in mind that your customers, loyal or otherwise really like being informed when there's a degradation in service. I know that these things aren't always easy categorize or identify and you'd rather not tell customers x broke when it isn't really conclusive.

It might be worth looking into your operational processes and looking at customer and internal communication strategy.

Are you being throttled? I haven't seen any issues with throttling during the day, but then I'm only really streaming, and we are 4 people who stream most of the day.

Difficult to say, but I could not get any throughput above 350Kbs/s on my 20Mbs line. No ISP would ever call it throttling, but if not that then extreme shaping. They use the term de-prioritized. I would assume that it means I fall in a bucket of bandwidth that has the lowest priority on their network.

Interesting. What is your usage like?

I am in the same boat as standerr. I am unsure what my usage is (you know since they don't have a client portal to track usage:D). Been pushing 2TB+ and now all of the sudden they are are putting me on a lower priority bandwidth pool? I really think they should have told the users that they have a system that puts you in a pool that makes the account useless (< 400kb/s on a 40mbit line) before we payed, because what it comes down to is you don't get the same value (where I once pushed 2TB+ I struggle to get a few hundred gigs?)

They have deprioritized my account too, 10mb premium uncapped. Sitting on 150gb so far this month, daily usage hasnt even gone up from previous months.

These upgrades better come soon, can't stand this shaping and to add salt to the wound, the international ping is *****ed on IS in the evening.

I'm just annoyed like I said re the usage report. By now it should have been sorted, mkay

This month started more active than others. I normally average 600-1TB per month, but @ this stage already on 500GB.
Wow and I thought I was a Heavy user at around 500-600 gigs a month. Think I feel like a Noob lol :D

My usage reports has stopped as from two weeks ago, I am no longer getting it. I am on the xtreme home capped package.

That is damn strange then.

Silly question. Have you guys requested to just be re-added to the notification list?

exactly when my last one was as well, 22 May

They disabled it deliberately when they were busy with the maintenance, that's why all of us whose mails stopped, got the last one on the 22nd. Not sure why Orihalcon is still getting, though, as it sounded like everyone's usage mails were disabled.
