Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

Cannot stream 720p on Sky Sports, anyone else having issues. First time I ever experience buffer issues.

Well technically the high end expensive routers, have options to reboot at a specific set time. Generally its a good idea to reboot the router now and then, if the up time has been going for a long time. But yeh not sure what turning it off during the evenings is supposed to do.

I followed his instructions, left it off for 15 minutes, did a firmware update, full factory reset, set up the whole bloody thing again, and 2 hours later I had 2 disconnects in quick succession again.

Mailed them because I'm getting fed up with this, and the guy who replied conceded that it could either be line or router, but since I did the above, it's probably not the router.

So, basically the previous guy was talking ****.

He said he'll log it with a Telkom technician to come out and look at it, but that my line stats look perfect.

Doing online gaming, I restart it every few days anyway before I go online for that, so I don't really need a feature to reset it automatically. But telling me to switch it off when I go to bed every few days, first time I've ever heard of that.

I have a TP Link Archer D7, but i think my line is up to the crapper, because my things are loading so slow at the moment. However, my speed test is normal, so i have no idea whats going on.

Is anybody else having issues with the news server? It seems connected but isn't downloading anything on my side... Started some time after 22:00 last night.

I have a 10mb adsl line with 10mb uncapped premium.

Telkom keeps upping my sync speed to 12mb, which hurts my SNR and puts me on interleave. I've called them.. told them to sync me at 10, and use fastmode.. it works great for a few days, then I'm all of a sudden on 12 again and my snr is lower, and ping is affected.

If I use WinMTR and ping exchange.crystalweb.co.za when I'm in fast mode I get about 10ms.. but on interleave it's about 25.. which makes a difference in Battlefield.

I used to use an old Telkom provided Billion router that showed that it was on fast mode or interleave, but after a lightening strike killed it - I swapped to a TP-Link Archer D20 and I cannot find anywhere in the settings where it can tell me if I'm actually in Interleave or not, but I'm pretty sure I am based on winmtr and my previous experience checking the ping etc.

Is there any way I can check if I'm on interleave for sure if the router doesn't display that stat?

And any tips on getting Telkom to lower my speed to 10 which is all I need, and leave it on fastmode which works great.

I'm assuming this has to do with the ASSIA system that tries to manage the line, and it thinks it's doing me a favour bumping me up to 12(interleave) vs 10(fast)?

Here's a screencap of my stats:

When I have them put me on 10mb, the SNR margin almost doubles.

Thanks!
Same issue . If you find a solution please let in on the secret

Same issue.
Traceroute points to hop 3 being a problem. 196.38.75.70, which is apparently internet solutions?

My internet is down atm. Red light on router. Tried rebooting already. Sigh.

Edit: Back up. CW did a port reset & I left the ONT & router off for a few min. Wonder what happened.

Your line has issues I think, you constantly have something go wrong. :(

Indeed. I think he alone has more issues with CW than all the rest of us combined.

Dafuq? My line has pretty much 100% uptime and performs great. I've only been moaning about how crap Twitch is at source quality, and those complaints are shared by half the internet if you search online.

Anyone else having issues accessing Supersport? It's up according to isdown.me and I can access it via my Afrihost mobile data. But it's down on CW. Wtf.

@MickeyD The old CW thread is still a sticky and this one isn't...

Wtf. Why are my results so different to yours? Can you post an MTR?

That's two weeks, I've been here for nearly 3 now and not encountered any issues.

And yes, I know about twitch, it's due to the terrible CDNs.

Not judging you, just saying you're unlucky.

And I remember you had some billing issues as well like a year ago.

The Supersport downtime was reported by many people on Twitter, and corroborated by others here on MyBB in the Supersport thread. I stream Supersport almost every day without issue, hence how I quickly noticed the issue.

MTRs and trace routes may have looked different between me and MickeyD, but my internet works perfectly everywhere but Twitch. It's been flying since day one of fibre.

I'm way luckier than most people I think, considering that my internet performs great at 100Mbps and this is the second time I've had fibre come to my address. Twitch aside, I have zero complaints. And even then, I have no reason to blame CW or Openserve considering the enormous quantity of online hatred towards the quality of the Twitch servers.

The billing issue was this month actually. Just some weird thing with being billed simultaneously for a fibre bundle from halfway through Feb when I'd already been billed as usual for my data at the beginning of that month. CW passed a credit note and the world kept turning.

That's good. But really, there was something a good while ago I remember that you just couldn't get sorted.
