All IS accounts are scheduled for discontinuance at midnight tonight

It is unfortunately impossible to predict how various systems will affect each other as changes kick in but we will be up monitoring and the latest news from upstream providers is for a sound 1 August.

All IS accounts are scheduled for deletion today. They are backup accounts we offered free of charge.

All routing issues should be resolved by tomorrow.

Ok, so will stick with the CW account then and hope from tomorrow onwards that there wont be any more international issues. If not, I might come lay off steam here ;)

Talk to support first. There are a dozen reasons why something may not work as expected. And support will tell you immediately whether it's related to any problems on our end.

Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day for us as management so the likelihood of getting a response timeously in the thread is far lower than the support desk.

We've got 24 hour support staff - they're there for you to talk to. ;)

Can anyone else on the original CW accounts not stream twitch at all? (buffer ever 3 to 5 seconds for 15 seconds)
Or am i alone on this one.

I'm disappointed that you uninstalled C&C Red Alert on the gaming PC...

Its like the 2nd best game of all time, behind C&C...

i can only stream on low without any buffering, so also having issues, but hopefully that's resolved tomorrow ;)

I'm testing it at the moment in Gauteng at the moment without a hitch (on high). Tested in CPT as well and it's working well too.

Just checked and we're not shaping this traffic at all. So once again with Twitch we're left unable to really answer this question.

Thankfully Google has now bought them and we'll hopefully soon see them moving to a proper CDN. I'm going to leave our tester running and monitoring it over the next hour and I'll post some stats here for you - running from an uncapped account and will post stats directly from the backend systems.

OK I've picked up an issue with Twitch. It's not affecting streaming speeds, and I can't be sure if it's on our side or Twitch's, but effectively the traffic during a stream is moving between http and http media stream, which can send the packets into different pools on our end and can result in packet loss between the switch. It may cause an issue. We'll need to investigate further, but so far there's no buffering on this stream we're testing.

We'll need to see why this tagging change is happening mid-stream - it may be Twitch, it may be us. If they're changing their own systems and not allowing us to recognise the traffic correctly then we're going to have to look into ways to recognise the traffic a little better, if at all possible.

Thanks for this update.
It's really annoying not being able to use Twitch and having to have a backup account specifically for it.

Hopefully your monitoring of it finds something that is causing the problems I'm having, but not others.

Our current gaming rig will be shared amongst all users on a time-allocation basis.

It's a pentium 2, integrated on-board graphics, Soundblaster pro 2.0 sound and MIDI card, 128Mb RAM, 6GB 5400rpm hard-drive IDE, MS sidewinder joystick, 10/100 ethernet NIC, Windows 98 second edition, and it's even hooked up to a 16inch CRT monitor for your gaming pleasure.

You may want to put your applications in to use this machine early. There WILL be a queue.

Games available:

Lemmings
Duke Nukem 3D
Doom
Leisure Suite Larry
Sensible World of Soccer
Wolfenstein (in 3D)
And we recently got Half-Life installed.

Everything runs on high graphics.

P2 CPU should be at least 450MHz
Drop the SB Pro for a more practical SB AWE64
Add another 128MB Ram
Add an AGP Riva TNT2
Update the BIOS and replace the 6GB HDD with an 80GB IDE
Monitor should be a 14"-15" CRT

Optional Extras:

P3 450MHz for a small performance boost
Sound Blaster PCI 128 secondary sound card (Bridged with AWE64)
Geforce 2 series (MX or better) GPU for even better 3D Graphics processing
A second 80GB hard drive for dual-boot (A great idea for a number of reasons)
PCI Sata Controller Card with 500GB 7200RPM SATA HDD
10/100 PCI Ethernet Card

This is my Retro-PC hardware recipe. Not perfect, but it works damn well.

I picked up the packet loss as well at home, but that could have still been down to the international issues. will test it again tonight and give some feedback
