You have just answered a question I had: Will a 4meg get 720p on Netflix?

And also addressed a concern I had, would my Netflix still play properly after the change, whatever the change may be.

Netflix will work superbly on the new system. Tested and confirmed.

My netflix does 420KB/sec on 720p with 5.1

Also, it did it perfectly on the old system ;)

Oddly enough most XBMC streams also worked PERFECT. I was in streaming Heaven. I can agree with other stuff like Google for instance, was sloooow.

streaming is not overly susceptible to packet loss though.

any idea when your website will be up and running?

Our first priority is making sure our existing customers are taken care of. We cannot launch an ISP with problems on our end, so we're forced to move the official launch back, which makes us sad pandas, but our commitment is to our customers first, and our bottom line second (or shared first, I suppose) :D

shared first priority when there's a total of 2 priorities is shared last priority :(

Some good news for Western Cape and KZN customers: we have been able to fix most, if not all issues without moving to the new IP range. We will also be resetting these accounts soon to ensure that they perform as brand spanking new accounts. If you have continued problems in Cape Town over the next 48 hours of testing please let us know.

Gauteng customers stay tuned for more info as we begin to resolve the problems as well. If you are not moved over to the new IP range (we have picked up on some routing issues) we will move you over to an alternate backbone in the interim until the final upgrade is completed. While no other ISP typically does this, we accept that this is being done because of issues on our end, and we are not trying to punt ourselves with this resolution, but rather acknowledge the issue and fix it as soon as possible.

Know that this is not an easy process on our end and we're trying to facilitate this as quickly as humanly possible for you. Gauteng is the only really affected location still as the upgrade process completes, and we will ensure that you have your connection "back" in working order over the next 24 hours. This is not an IPC capacity issue by the way. This is part of a wider upgrade to the entire routing process which is causing some hassles. The international link issues have also been mostly resolved and nearly all capacity is now online.

We're trying to be as open and transparent with you all as we can, and will continue to be so.

Anybody on the new system yet? And if so have you done some testing?

On the new range on a 10Mbps test line:

BUT, we've picked up on a few routing issues here, hence the roll-out stagnated a little. If these can't be resolved, we have taken the decision not to delay things further for you guys because of our problems, and we will simply migrate you to an alternate backbone until we can be 100% assured that there will be no more hassles.

Note that this isn't an issue with our upstream partner either. This has more to do with the systems put in place to manage our capacity properly and is wholly our problem to resolve now, and we will.

I( assume westerb cape fix isn't live yet :P(single connection http downloads moving at 30kbps still need to set conn to 8 :/)

also what do you mean by resetting? :P anything we need to do?

also why are you only giving half of us the new ip range :(

I assume the Free State falls under the Gauteng umbrella?

You won't need to do anything on your end unless we inform you to perform a power-cycle or reboot. The fix is live but does still require some additional config over the next few hours.

By default, during this phase, http downloads are still single-threaded. Also note that because a number of p2p clients fake the packets to look like http we have had to put in place a policy to shape http downloads if p2p and http file transfers are detected during the day at the same time. This can and does affect http download speeds.

In fact let me post about the shaping policy to clear things up.

seriously? so i can't even have a badly seeded linux distro running without shapping everything else.......also just because some people try to fake p2p doesnt mean all of us do which makes that rather unfair(i can prove all my http is really http if you want -.-.....

might as well just shape everything if even having a p2p client open in the background shapes you to hell

EDIT: also the way you say it....sounds like if even 1 p2p file is loaded in an entire day you get shaped.
