Nope. Quite a few have received them already. :D

We have an obligation to send them off to the relevant customers as we receive them.

Yes, and I responded with the obligatory.

All offending media has been permanently removed from my system and I will attempt no further transgressions, Occifer.

Last received one of these quote a couple of years ago with Afrihost.

And to those that so flippantly cast about accusations of nefarious activities, my parrot say Faaark0ff!!! :D

Unfortunately some customers may be informed over the coming days that their unshaped experience will be coming to an end. Unfortunately some customers are going as far as to download in excess of 100GB per day, and we can't sustain that. These few percentage of customers will be moved back to shaped uncapped accounts to preserve the quality of the unshaped network for all other customers.

Sad but you always get the people who; for a lack of a better English saying:

Hulle ruk die dam onder die eend se gat uit.:D

Our current customers are all on uncapped, unshaped for this month, and we're evaluating whether to introduce this as a standard product based on data we receive from this experiment.

For your needs our standard uncapped accounts work really well. Streaming is not shaped, gaming is working well now that our international issues have been resolved, and the occasional download is perfectly reasonable.

So as of next month you may make all the uncapped accounts unshaped by default?
Or whether you will be introducing an uncapped unshaped account at a different price?

While I personally don't see how anyone can use that much a day - unless uncompressed 50GB Blu-rays are your thing - I think everyone has to remember that some people have 5+ family members.

I'm not condoning the use of so much data, but in a family of 5, 20GB a day would be very reasonable when each has their specific streamer, YouTuber or tv series they follow. While for a single user that usage would be a bit high.

Just saying, you cant judge everyone off the raw data.

we don't judge at all - we do however clearly say that 100GB per day is horribly unsustainable for entry to midpoint consumption and 600GB a month (20GB a day) has a cost implication that makes price point a sensitive discussion

From a network perspective we have no choice but to do so on unshaped products, especially from a pricing perspective. We can't factor in number of family members and their individual expected usage upon signup to customise different pricing per customer. There's a balance to be had here. If a user is aware that their usage is around 100GB per day, and they want a product to do 3TB of data per month, then we'll arrange something custom for them. But that user is certainly not going to be on a R349 per month account, that's for sure.

We don't call these customers abusers. These are just customers with unique requirements who are clearly on the wrong package for their needs. There's nothing abusive about it from our perspective, but we do need to ensure that the network operates well for everyone. We have that responsibility to each and every one of you too.

To an extent on certain products, perhaps.

We will be introducing new products, yes.

Alright, awesome!

Let me wait and see what happens next month then I guess. Not too sure what my monthly usage will be like either at the moment. May make more sense for me to get a capped account.

I hear what you're saying and i'm not disagreeing.

I just think that if you do say to customer(x) "You need to be on this package based on your usage and it is R(x) a month" then you cant complain when customer (x) does use that much.

If you can keep to that, and not make people pay more then your standard rate just because they have a fast line, then i think everyone would be happy.

For example, I just moved today from a 4Mbps to a 10Mbps.
I'm not going to be using more data now then i was before. Because i was already getting everything i wanted on the 4Mbps connection. Its just now i can actually get things faster, and finally be able to watch YouTube in 1080P.

So in that regard, the only increase in my usage would be that i now pick 1080P Youtube - on specific videos where it makes a difference - over 720P.

Well, 4Mb uncapped to 10Mb uncapped will be differently priced, there's no two ways about it. The amount of capacity we have to provision on the network is 2.5 x more than the 4Mb customer and there's a very real cost element attached to that for us as a business.

Ok this week is DSTV entertainment catch up. On other words downloads will be on the low

Obviously. But good luck trying to explain to the non MyBB customers the different packages and what they should have.

Maybe you should consider having an optional "Average GB per month usage" field in your query/signup forms.

That way if people do fill it in your staff will be able to suggest the perfect product for them.

We're putting together a structure to market fairly and honestly on this basis.

A family of 5 will use a lot more of everything : food, electricity, water etc. And they will pay more for this. No reason Internet should be different.

only problem i have with premium account is that more often than not your better off just buying unshaped capped data

depending on your needs big caps will frequently make the most sense
a big cap with a rollover onto a shaped product such that you don't disconnect seems like a very good offering so far as we are concerned.

O_O...You don't hate me yet do you? I think my usage has been in the fair range on a 20mbps account?

Are you hinting at some hybrid uncapped accounts? :P
